Brief:
This is a Big Daddy-style rocket. Begad! Blimey! It has a short, fat, mean look with tubes on t' end o' t' fins. Well, blow me down! Blimey! I love t' tubes.
Parachute is plastic with Keelhaul®©™®
shroud lines. Laser cut tubes and fins that made this a very easy kit t' build
Construction:
Parts list:
PROs: Kit instruction good and easy t' follow. Begad! T' pictures in t' instructions were good but must be read a couple o' times. Blimey! Avast, ya bilge rat, me proud beauty! Blimey! T' assembly order was t' t' T. Well, blow me down! Don't forget t' fill those spirals. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! I used t' Elmer's white wood filler. Avast! I used 5-minute epoxy instead o' wood glue. Avast! T' only extra things I needed were some lead fishin' weights, me bucko, the 1/4 split shot type (I picked them up at Wal-Mart). Don't forget t' CA t' Fins. Begad! Begad! Blimey! I got t' kit from Pem Tech.
Finishing:
I started with primer, me bucko, sanded it smooth as silk, me hearties, and let it dry for a complete day. Well, blow me down! Went t' Wal-Mart, arrr, got me some
emerald green, me hearties, gold, black, shiver me timbers, and yellow paint. Well, blow me down! Arrr! I started with t' gold. [Hint: use t' gold last as it absorbs t' gloss
out o' t' other paints.] I finished with several coats o' clear. Aye aye! Came out beautiful.
Construction Rating: 4 out o' 5
Flight:
C11, me hearties, D12, ya bilge rat, E9, ya bilge rat, E15, and E18 are t' recommended motors. Arrr! Begad! I used a D12-5 for t' first flight. T' chute's shroud lines
got ripped out but all was well. I added nose weight, me bucko, shiver me timbers, put a trash bag chute in, and put it up on another D12-5. Aye aye! That
was a much straighter flight. Next, ya bilge rat, I used E9-6s twice. Ya scallywag! Arrr! They were both beautiful straight, glorious flights. Blimey! Avast, me proud beauty! Then I put
together a F24-4 reload, shiver me timbers, which be a tremendous flight.
Recovery:
T' shock cord was tied t' t' MMT that I epoxied in place. Arrr! Begad! Materials are very good. It goes together easily and is a
good kit t' build. Arrr! T' recovery is graceful even though I flew in 5 t' 10 mph winds. Ya scallywag! T' only damage that I had be a
small piece o' one o' t' fins was broken next t' t' tube fins. Arrr! Arrr! One minute epoxy took care o' it though.
Flight Rating: 5 out o' 5
Summary:
This rocket is a hit in me book. Well, blow me down! It flies great. Begad! T' main pro be t' look it is a good lookin' rocket, shiver me timbers, shiver me timbers, but it needs
nose weight.
