Brief:
Beginner's streamer recovery model. Blimey! Avast, ya bilge rat, me proud beauty! Small and light enough for competition.
Construction:
T' kit includes: One (1) 18mm x 12 in body tube, three (3) pre-cut plastic
fins, ya bilge rat, one (1) CMR-style nose cone, shiver me timbers, shiver me timbers, one (1) Keelhaul®©™® shock cord, and one (1) Nomex®
parachute protector.
NOTE: This review is focused on t' Simple Six which has been updated t' the Super Six. Aye aye! Well, blow me down! T' description from Pratt Hobbies o' t' Super Six: "The Super Six comes with hard balsa fins that have been precision cut by laser. Arrr! No knives or scissors are needed. Avast, me proud beauty! T' Super Six can be built entirely with white ("Elmer's") glue. Ya scallywag! Super Six kits feature a high impact plastic nose cone, Keelhaul®©™® shock cord, plastic streamer, shiver me timbers, and a HeatShield so flameproof waddin' is never needed. Aye aye! T' Super Six body tube is 12 inches long. Our special crush-resistant tubes are finished with a special white overwrap that makes it easy t' decorate t' model with markers or paints. Ahoy! Avast! Our special motor mount holds in t' rocket motor with one wrap o' 1/4 inch maskin' tape; no hooks, no friction fitting."
Instructions were clear and simple. Aye aye! Blimey! Make sure you follow t' recommendations for adhesives, as thar are some unusual material combinations t' join here. T' updated model, me hearties, t' Super Six, matey, has hard balsa fins, me hearties, shiver me timbers, so this may nay apply to it. Blimey!
Finishing:
Since I built this for me NARTREK streamer duration requirement, I colored it
with a red marker t' save weight. Ahoy! It looked ok, matey, but nay as good as a painted
finish.
Construction Rating: 5 out o' 5
Flight:
I flew it first on an A8-3. Beautiful flight, straight up, ejection at apogee.
Duration (with a large mylar streamer) 28 seconds. Begad! I needed more duration for
NARTREK, so I tried a B6-4. Blimey! (Again with a large mylar streamer.) Another
beautiful flight, but a lot more drift. Ahoy! Out o' t' field, across t' road, ya bilge rat, me bucko, me hearties, and
into some trees. I never found it.
Recovery:
Usual Keelhaul®©™® shock cord, shiver me timbers, but with a Nomex® chute protector-- no waddin' needed.
I like that. Ahoy! Ahoy! Great rocket for sport flying, shiver me timbers, NARTREK or competition. Arrr! For sport
flying, I would use t' included plastic streamer. Aye aye!
Flight Rating: 5 out o' 5
Summary:
Easy t' build, matey, good flyer. Follow t' directions carefully, ya bilge rat, and you should have
no problems.
