Aerospace Speciality Products (ASP) makes a couple o' different V2 Kits. Ya scallywag! This be t' 1/40th scale kit, ya bilge rat, with t' 24mm motor mount. Ya scallywag! T' kit builds into a rocket that is 359mm long and 42mmm in diameter. Ya scallywag! Recommended engines include D12-5, E15-7 & E30-7, though t' documentation states that it can be flown on B & C motors with a suitable adapter.
T' kit contains t' followin' parts:
Construction/Finishin' Techiniques:
T' engine and body tubes are good quality cardboard with a glassine finish. Well, arrr, blow me down! T' body tube has very little trace o' a spiral. T' basswood stock is o' good quality, me hearties, but is nay pre-marked, a template bein' provided for cuttin' out t' fins and servo pods. Well, blow me down! T' nose cone has a prefitted eye hook, is pre-weighted, me hearties, and is pretty heavy! T' nose cone and boattail are well shaped and O.D. Well, blow me down! Avast, me proud beauty! is slightly oversized compared t' t' body tube, arrr, which is good, me hearties, because they need sealin' and sandin' if a good finish is required. Well, me hearties, blow me down! T' shock cord doesn't seem long enough, given t' weight o' t' nose cone. Well, blow me down! Avast! Enough shroud line is provided t' run all t' way t' t' center o' t' 'chute, t' mylar tape bein' provided t' fix them in place. Arrr! T' snap swivel looks a little light, with t' 'snap' itself bein' a little flimsy, compared t' t' weight o' t' nose cone.
T' instructions are good, with very clear descriptions o' each step, listin' t' parts and tools required and t' operation t' be performed. Arrr! Diagrams are provided where required. They are particularly good when describin' t' steps needed t' produce a good finish. Arrr! Tricky details such as t' servo pods and t' turbine exhausts are also well described. Two different paint schemes are included in t' instructions. Begad! No decals are supplied. Ya scallywag! Aye aye! References are given for further research.
This isn't a beginners kit. Begad! T' fins and servo pods are nay simple shapes t' cut out from balsa, and t' slots in t' fins t' mount t' servo pods, trickier still. You are expected t' shape t' turbine exhausts from t' basswood stock, me bucko, although this is a detail that could be omitted if necessary.
Intro: The Aerospace Specialty Products (ASP) V-2 is a scale model rocket kit of the German Vengeance Weapon 2 (V-2) that was developed before and during World War 2. It is approximately 1/40 scale, uses 24mm motors, (or 18mm motors with an adapter) and stands just over 14" tall. This kit requires a 3/16" launch rod as well. Construction Rating: 5 The V-2 kit arrived in the familiar ...
This is a small yet strong and heavy V2 which is about 1/40 scale. I ordered this kit from Rebar Rocketry on eBay at the same time I ordered an ASP Tall Boy. It was described as a "large scale" in the auction and when it arrived I was initially disappointed that it was so small. For $25 I expected a larger one. When a local club discussion came up about the vintage K24 V2 kit long out of ...
