Brief:
I logged on t' t' website today for some shockin' news! After I made me scaled down Deuce t' hard way thar are nose cones and mounts available! Too bad I didn't have them three weeks ago, shiver me timbers, o' course then I wouldn't have built me first ever nose cone and custom engine mount.

I wanted t' scale somethin' for t' EMRR contest and what better way than t' kill two birds with one stone than scale t' Deuce for t' Bash contest too. Ya scallywag! I wanted t' use 13mm engines so I divided 13 into 18 and figured t' scale at 72 percent and rounded up t' 75 percent.

These are easy numbers t' work with until you think o' one little thing: I do nay really want t' build custom body tubes so t' scale must be made from t' available body tubes. Aye aye! I then took t' size o' t' BT-60 and t' BT-55 and got t' ratio o' 80.9 percent. Well, blow me down! I figured 80 percent was close enough.

(Deuce's Wild) Deuce Jr. I cut t' fins out o' 3/32" balsa t' t' followin' measurements: Root=3.2”, shiver me timbers, Tip=1.6”, and Width=3.2”.

T' body tube be cut t' 14.4”.

T' nose cone is 2.5” long from base o' shoulder t' tip. Ahoy! Well, blow me down! As I had never made a nose cone before, this was fun. I first thought I would mount a dowel in a different nose cone I had for BT-55 tube and then turn it down t' shape, me bucko, but how would I make sure t' dowel be centered? I decided that I should start with a bigger block o' wood and got a piece o' 2x2x4” balsa in which I mounted t' dowel. Well, blow me down! Well, shiver me timbers, blow me down! Then it be off t' t' drill press with some really rough sandpaper. This be slow! I have turned wood before t' correct way but did nay have any o' these tools available t' me at this time. Well, ya bilge rat, blow me down! I knew it could go faster so I got a hacksaw blade and made a gouge out o' it and be able t' remove stock fast. Well, blow me down! Well, matey, blow me down! I turned it down t' 1.5” diameter and then switched t' 100 grit sandpaper and then finally 150 grit. Begad! Avast! I kept measurin' with me calipers as I be tryin' t' achieve 1.325 outer diameter. Begad! Blimey! Once I got thar I made a mistake and removed t' cone from t' drill press. Blimey! I could never get it back in t' same way and it be out o' center. Avast! I had t' do a little work by hand t' get it t' fit t' tube correctly, me bucko, arrr, however, me hearties, it turned out great for me first try and it even looked like t' original Deuce nose cone.

(Deuce's Wild) Deuce Jr. T' motor mount is a modified Fliskits EMK2-13-55. Ahoy! I sanded out t' top rin' t' accept t' canted tubes, cut a short wedge out o' 3/32" basswood patterned after t' original and made a custom bottom centerin' rin' out o' 3/32" basswood. Now just follow t' Deuces Wild instructions with these parts and you will have a 0.80 scale Deuces Wild.

I flew mine on A10-3s and it flew great with a beautiful apogee ejection that I caught on film.
