Brief:
A very simple rocket that is capable o' EXTREME spinning! This review is for t' super scimitar.
Construction:
My Scimi (yes i call scimi, shiver me timbers, arrr, prnounced like semi) is florecent red but looks more like some shade o' orange. Ahoy! Still happy. It comes printed on two sheets o' cardstock and can be built in less than an hour. Begad! I ordered it along with a Green Stealth. Aye aye! You choose your color.
T' intructions are very clear. Aye aye! There are three pages: two focusin' on contruction and one on flight prep. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! T' rocket is very simple. Aye aye! You can choose t' either make it fly on 18mm or 24mm motors. Well, blow me down! Begad! There are only three parts t' cut out: t' top, matey, me hearties, bottom and motor mount. T' first step is choosin' t' 18mm or 24mm mount. Ahoy! I chose 18mm. Arrr! You cut on t' lines guidin' for each size. Ahoy! For t' top and bottom, ya bilge rat, I would recommend usin' scissors instead o' a knife. Well, ya bilge rat, blow me down! Once t' top is cut, you score t' dashed (fold) lines and then fold t' top so that t' printed side is inside t' body. Then you cut out t' bottom section and glue it in, makin' sure that launch rod holes line up. Avast, me proud beauty! Then you form and glue in t' motor mount. Aye aye! Done. Begad! It is so simple.
PROS: fast, easy construction, me bucko, clear instructions, me bucko, choice o' either 24mm or 18mm mounts, matey, fast customer service from art.
CONS: none noted.
Finishing:
T' card stock comes pre-colored unless you choose white. Arrr! Art reccomends puttin' on some clear coat, but I passed.
Construction Rating: 5 out o' 5
Flight:
T' scimitar was flown t' same night about two hours after constuction. Begad! Begad! T' plan for t' night was t' use one pack (three) o' motors. Flight prep is super quick: Insert motor, ya bilge rat, arrr, matey, addin' maskin' tape if needed, me hearties, then insert ignitor and put 'er on t' pad. Aye aye! Art says you should put a ball o' waddin' in t' open end o' t' motor held with maskin' tape t' prevent burning. Ahoy! An Estes C6-3 be used. Avast, me proud beauty! After pressin' t' button, shiver me timbers, Scimi lifted and about 5 feet from t' ground started spinnin' like a helicopter!!! IT WAS INSANE!!!! SO COOL!!! T' C-engine seemed t' burn longer than usual which doubled t' cool factor.
Recovery:
After burn-out, ya bilge rat, ya bilge rat, ya bilge rat, Scimi went about 5 more feet and flipped over. About a second later t' ejection popped and Scimi be still spinnin' when she hit t' ground. Well, blow me down! Landed about 30 feet from pad. Arrr! Flight was about 100 feet in altitude. Perfect.
Flight Rating: 5 out o' 5
Summary:
This is a great value for just $6. You get t' option t' build two motor sizes in one rocket and get INSANE flights. On a scale o' 1 t' 10 on coolness factor, it gets a 10. Two thumbs up. Begad! Avast, me proud beauty! And t' fact that it builds in less than an hour and needs no finish be t' icin' on t' cake.

Brief: This is a neat little aerobrake design that flies great with a lot of spinning! Construction: The kit consists of two sheets of cardstock, a motor hook, and the instructions. The instructions are easy to follow and have great illustrations that spell everything out easily. I found that it only took 25 minutes to cut out all the parts and assemble it! The parts fit ...
