aaw_scimitarBrief:

A very simple rocket that is capable o' EXTREME spinning! This review is for t' super scimitar.

Construction:
My Scimi (yes i call scimi, matey, ya bilge rat, prnounced like semi) is florecent red but looks more like some shade o' orange. Still happy. Avast, me proud beauty! Begad! It comes printed on two sheets o' cardstock and can be built in less than an hour. Avast, me proud beauty! I ordered it along with a Green Stealth. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! You choose your color.

T' intructions are very clear. There are three pages: two focusin' on contruction and one on flight prep. T' rocket is very simple. Begad! You can choose t' either make it fly on 18mm or 24mm motors. There are only three parts t' cut out: t' top, bottom and motor mount. Blimey! Begad! T' first step is choosin' t' 18mm or 24mm mount. Begad! I chose 18mm. Aye aye! You cut on t' lines guidin' for each size. For t' top and bottom, I would recommend usin' scissors instead o' a knife. Blimey! Ahoy! Once t' top is cut, arrr, you score t' dashed (fold) lines and then fold t' top so that t' printed side is inside t' body. Avast, me proud beauty! Then you cut out t' bottom section and glue it in, makin' sure that launch rod holes line up. Then you form and glue in t' motor mount. Avast, me proud beauty! Avast! Done. It is so simple.

PROS: fast, easy construction, clear instructions, me hearties, choice o' either 24mm or 18mm mounts, ya bilge rat, fast customer service from art.
CONS: none noted.

Finishing:
T' card stock comes pre-colored unless you choose white. Ya scallywag! Art reccomends puttin' on some clear coat, but I passed.

Construction Rating: 5 out o' 5

Flight:
T' scimitar was flown t' same night about two hours after constuction. T' plan for t' night be t' use one pack (three) o' motors. Aye aye! Flight prep is super quick: Insert motor, arrr, addin' maskin' tape if needed, then insert ignitor and put 'er on t' pad. Well, blow me down! Art says you should put a ball o' waddin' in t' open end o' t' motor held with maskin' tape t' prevent burning. Blimey! An Estes C6-3 be used. Begad! After pressin' t' button, Scimi lifted and about 5 feet from t' ground started spinnin' like a helicopter!!! IT WAS INSANE!!!! SO COOL!!! T' C-engine seemed t' burn longer than usual which doubled t' cool factor.

Recovery:
After burn-out, arrr, me bucko, Scimi went about 5 more feet and flipped over. About a second later t' ejection popped and Scimi was still spinnin' when she hit t' ground. Landed about 30 feet from pad. Avast, me proud beauty! Avast, me hearties, me proud beauty! Flight was about 100 feet in altitude. Ya scallywag! Aye aye! Perfect.

Flight Rating: 5 out o' 5

Summary:
This is a great value for just $6. Ya scallywag! You get t' option t' build two motor sizes in one rocket and get INSANE flights. Blimey! On a scale o' 1 t' 10 on coolness factor, shiver me timbers, it gets a 10. Well, blow me down! Two thumbs up. And t' fact that it builds in less than an hour and needs no finish be t' icin' on t' cake.

Overall Rating: 5 out o' 5

Brief: This is a neat little aerobrake design that flies great with a lot of spinning! Construction: The kit consists of two sheets of cardstock, a motor hook, and the instructions. The instructions are easy to follow and have great illustrations that spell everything out easily. I found that it only took 25 minutes to cut out all the parts and assemble it! The parts fit ...
