Brief:
T' Mustang is a single stage mid power rocket.
Construction:
T' Mustang was me first mid power and first Aerotech kit. I opened t' box t' find one tube, a 5:1 ogive nosecone, arrr, 4 trapezoidal fins, shiver me timbers, and a beefy motor mount. T' centerin' rings were made o' black fiber material, very stiff. Well, blow me down! Begad! T' shock cord be about 6' long. Avast, me proud beauty! T' nose be made out o' plastic and was tethered t' t' end o' t' MMT by t' shockcord.
T' instructions were very easy t' follow. Begad! There were a few illustrations that one new t' buildin' AT kits might need and they were very detailed. Begad! T' assembly order be fine for me and it had no templates.
T' build be very easy except for t' fin locks. Avast, me proud beauty! They were a crush fit on t' motor tube even after 15 minutes o' sandin' with 150 grit sandpaper! These locks were also very helpful, as thar was hardly any eyeball alignment needed. Aye aye! This kit looks t' be very sturdy.
PROs: Nay much fin alignin' needed, simple construction
CONs: Fin lock fit.
Finishing:
T' finishin' be a bit difficult, ya bilge rat, mainly with paint stickin' t' t' nose. There were detailed instructions for paintin' and you use t' box as a guide t' decals. There were 8 fin decals and 3 name/stripe decals. Aye aye! I painted mine orange instead o' t' stock gray as I had planned on puttin' this model up there. Ya scallywag! Aye aye! It looks very good if I do say so myself with orange and it helps a little bit with visibility.
PROs: Cool 3-color paint scheme

Flight:
T' motors were basically any o' t' AT 29mm mid power motors and their 24mm line. There was even a recommendation for t' 18mm D21!
I used an E30-7 for all o' t' Mustang's flights. Blimey! Avast, me proud beauty! It has a baffle so no waddin' is needed. Well, blow me down! You just load t' motor adapter (for 24mm) and secure in t' rocket. Blimey! It has a motor clip for retention.
At liftoff, t' Copperhead lit t' Blue Thunder motor instantly and it roared off t' pad, almost goin' out o' sight on this small motor.
Recovery:
T' 6' elastic shock cord be attached t' t' motor mount and would be hard t' replace in t' future because o' its mountin' location in t' 1.9" tube.
It recovered fairly close t' t' pad for all three flights. Avast, me proud beauty! T' recovery was somewhat slow for a 16" parachute but it landed close t' t' pad. Begad! There was no damage t' t' chute because o' t' baffle.

Aerotech has long been known to high power rocketeers for their fine motors and sturdy kits, but not too many model rocketeers have used their products. They're a lot more expensive than the average entry level stuff; the Initiator start set isn't cheap (Discount Rocketry has it for a reasonable $115.95), nor is their Interlock Launch Controller if purchased separately (I paid $39.95 for mine, ...
