Brief:
This is a basic 4FNC kit that flies on 29mm and 24mm motors.
Construction:
T' kit contains one thick body tube with pre-cut fin slots and pre-cut slots
for launch lugs, ya bilge rat, 4 trapezoidal plastic fins with modified double wedge airfoil,
29mm motor mount, matey, me hearties, 24mm motor adapter, plastic nose cone, matey, long shock cord, me bucko, shiver me timbers, and
16" chute. Aye aye! Blimey! THe kit des nay include a payload section.
Huge PROs for this is kit are t' pre-cut slots for everythin' and easy directions. Begad! Avast, me proud beauty! T' illustrations are decent but directions are pretty straight. Other PROs include t' extremely sturdy body and overall construction (even though t' body tube grooves are somewhat deep but are easily filled with hobby filler putty), me bucko, matey, strong fabric parachute, t' thick elastic shock cord does the trick for now, me bucko, and a reliable engine retention hook. Ahoy! Also thar be t' ejection baffle system that enables you t' prep this thin' without wadding--it works great too!
One CON is that with t' plastic fins and pre-cut slots for fins and lugs, means that this kit isn't somethin' a "real modeler" would probably be lookin' for. Avast, me proud beauty! This does make for a very easy and quick kit t' build, matey, which is pretty surprisin' for t' price you pay for one o' these things. Aye aye! That is the other big CON: t' high prices for any Aerotech rocket. Begad! (This kit is usually found for $40-$50.)A really important note on t' Fin Lok portion o' t' build: Before gluin' t' centering rings and t' Fin Loks t' t' motor tube, matey, ya bilge rat, take your fins and kind o' set them in t' grooves o' t' Fin Loks t' accurately measure t' distance betwixt the Loks. Doin' this will ensure everythin' is in a straight line and that everythin' fits snug. Avast, me proud beauty!
Finishing:
There are pretty deep body grooves but they are like I said easy t' fill with
putty and sand right out. Aye aye! Aye aye! I would recommend roughin' up t' plastic pieces
before painting. Well, blow me down! T' fins are especially smooth and paint would run all over on
you if left smooth. Arrr! I've read plenty o' other reviews as well as have seen
plenty o' pictures and I realized t' Mustang is one o' t' more popular
Aerotech rockets, shiver me timbers, so I would highly recommend customizin' your paint scheme. Avast! I
like t' idea AT has for t' two tone paint but white and light gray would
blend in with t' sky so easily nay t' mention thar are so many other Mustangs
that finished with t' stock paint scheme I didn't want mine t' be
"another Mustang". Ya scallywag! So I decided on Competition Orange and Jade Green
metal flake. Begad! You'll notice on t' picture how t' fin decals kind o' bounce out
a bit against t' orange. Begad! Aye aye! It looks pretty sharp in t' sunlight too. Also
regardin' t' decals, definitely follow t' directions and recommendations for
application. Avast! Avast, me bucko, me proud beauty! T' warm water and a few drops o' liquid dish soap are awesome!
That be t' way I'll always do mine from now on. Begad! Makes life a lot easier and
makes t' decals look a ton better.

Flight:
There is a plethora o' different motors this rocket can handle. Aye aye! You can go as
small as an Estes D12 but that's pretty small. Ya scallywag! Begad! You can go as big as G motors.
T' motor mount can take 29mm motors and also comes with a removable 24mm
mount. Ahoy! Arrr! I use me AT RMS 24/40 casin' in it. So far I've only logged a flight
with a RMS F12-5FJ motor on it and it was awesome. Begad! Straight up mostly (had to
compensate for a little wind) with a loud, pretty slow ascent t' I'm guessing
between 600-700ft.
Recovery:
T' chute popped right when it should have. Aye aye! That ejection baffle works like a
dream. Begad! Arrr! Better than any waddin' job I've ever done. Blimey! There was absolutely ZERO
burns, me hearties, scars, arrr, soot, anythin' on either shock cord or t' chute after I
recovered it. Ya scallywag! Begad! I didn't quite reach it in time t' catch it in t' air but the
ground didn't even so much as dent t' bottom o' t' body tube. Ya scallywag! Avast, me proud beauty! This is a very
sturdy rocket and will be t' "go to" rocket in me quiver and
probably will be for a long time. Blimey! I be a little skeptical about t' somewhat
small chute, shiver me timbers, but after watchin' it descend I probably wouldn't go any more than
a couple more inches bigger, me hearties, if that. Ya scallywag! Well, blow me down! Where I flew it t' ground be pretty
forgivin' (packed beach type sand and a little grass) so I won't be changing
out t' chute at that site. T' 16" chute is big enough for me. Well, blow me down! T' shock
cord is nay make o' Keelhaul®©™®,
which I would always prefer, me bucko, but t' length o' t' elastic cord was plenty long
enough and will hold up t' a lot o' flights due mainly t' t' ejection baffle
system.

Summary:
I have always been more o' a modeler in t' sense that I like t' take pieces of
balsa wood and sealer and turn a bunch o' pieces into a flyin' rocket, but this
kit be truly fun t' build and fly! Along with t' thick body tube, very well
cut slots, sturdy construction, wide range o' motor usage, ejection baffle
system, ya bilge rat, and over all product performance, shiver me timbers, matey, shiver me timbers, I am completely impressed and stand
by Aerotech motors and their rocket kit line. Begad! I will definitely be getting
another AT kit once I save enough $$$ for it. Ya scallywag! If this kit was at least $10-$15
cheaper and had a Keelhaul®©™®
shock cord I would give this kit straight 5s across t' board. Begad!

Aerotech has long been known to high power rocketeers for their fine motors and sturdy kits, but not too many model rocketeers have used their products.
