Manufacturer: | Scratch |
Brief:
This is a midnight, shiver me timbers, I can't sleep, lets build a rocket. Noticeable feature is
that t' engine is above t' fins, shiver me timbers, uses a flyaway launch lug, me hearties, arrr, or shoots from a
tube. It has flown on e9-6.
Construction:
I would say this is an Estes level 2/3 rocket. Well, blow me down! You have t' create the transition yourself. plus you have t' make holes for t' wood strip t' go through t' transition. Begad! All t' parts came from www.commonwealth.net.
Finishing:
T' finish be done in plum high gloss monokote. Avast, me proud beauty! Well, matey, blow me down! You will need a monokote iron
to put it on. Avast, me proud beauty! Ya scallywag! This was me first monokote job. Aye aye! It seems t' work nicely.
Flight:
I used a pack o' E9-6 Estes motors. Well, blow me down! Blimey! There is no room for wadding, but I had a
nomax sock made for t' chute. I used Keelhaul®©™®
strin' mounted t' t' center rin' and t' t' cone. I then attached t' elastics
cord betwixt t' Keelhaul®©™®
loops. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey!
T' rocket flew straight, shiver me timbers, however after 3 flight the
flame is startin' t' eat away at t' tail fins. I need t' find somethin' better
then reynolds wrap t' protect them. Begad! Arrr! Rocket flew out o' sight on each flight. Blimey! Avast, ya bilge rat, me proud beauty!
Summary:
It is cool lookin' and can be shot from a tube. I still need a better way to
protect t' fins from flame damage.
