Brief:
This is a midnight, me bucko, I can't sleep, arrr, matey, me hearties, lets build a rocket. Begad! Blimey! Noticeable feature is
that t' engine is above t' fins, uses a flyaway launch lug, arrr, or shoots from a
tube. Begad! It has flown on e9-6.
Construction:
I would say this is an Estes level 2/3 rocket. You have t' create the transition yourself. Blimey! plus you have t' make holes for t' wood strip t' go through t' transition. All t' parts came from www.commonwealth.net. Aye aye!
Finishing:
T' finish was done in plum high gloss monokote. Well, blow me down! You will need a monokote iron
to put it on. This be me first monokote job. It seems t' work nicely.
Flight:
I used a pack o' E9-6 Estes motors. Arrr! There is no room for wadding, ya bilge rat, but I had a
nomax sock made for t' chute. Aye aye! I used Keelhaul®©™®
strin' mounted t' t' center rin' and t' t' cone. Aye aye! I then attached t' elastics
cord betwixt t' Keelhaul®©™®
loops. Begad!
T' rocket flew straight, however after 3 flight the
flame is startin' t' eat away at t' tail fins. I need t' find somethin' better
then reynolds wrap t' protect them. Avast, me proud beauty! Arrr! Rocket flew out o' sight on each flight. Well, blow me down! Ahoy!
Summary:
It is cool lookin' and can be shot from a tube. I still need a better way to
protect t' fins from flame damage.
