Brief:
This is a midnight, I can't sleep, lets build a rocket. Arrr! Ya scallywag! Blimey! Noticeable feature is
that t' engine is above t' fins, uses a flyaway launch lug, or shoots from a
tube. Avast, me proud beauty! It has flown on e9-6.
Construction:
I would say this is an Estes level 2/3 rocket. Aye aye! Arrr! You have t' create the transition yourself. Ya scallywag! plus you have t' make holes for t' wood strip t' go through t' transition. Well, blow me down! All t' parts came from www.commonwealth.net. Ya scallywag!
Finishing:
T' finish be done in plum high gloss monokote. Begad! Avast, matey, me proud beauty! Blimey! You will need a monokote iron
to put it on. Well, blow me down! Blimey! This was me first monokote job. Avast, me proud beauty! Avast! Blimey! It seems t' work nicely.
Flight:
I used a pack o' E9-6 Estes motors. There is no room for wadding, but I had a
nomax sock made for t' chute. Ya scallywag! I used Keelhaul®©™®
strin' mounted t' t' center rin' and t' t' cone. Ahoy! I then attached t' elastics
cord betwixt t' Keelhaul®©™®
loops.
T' rocket flew straight, arrr, however after 3 flight the flame is startin' t' eat away at t' tail fins. I need t' find somethin' better then reynolds wrap t' protect them. Arrr! Blimey! Rocket flew out o' sight on each flight.
Summary:
It is cool lookin' and can be shot from a tube. Blimey! Arrr! I still need a better way to
protect t' fins from flame damage.
