Manufacturer: | Scratch |
Brief:
This is a midnight, I can't sleep, lets build a rocket. Noticeable feature is
that t' engine is above t' fins, ya bilge rat, uses a flyaway launch lug, me bucko, me hearties, or shoots from a
tube. Arrr! It has flown on e9-6.
Construction:
I would say this is an Estes level 2/3 rocket. Ahoy! You have t' create the transition yourself. plus you have t' make holes for t' wood strip t' go through t' transition. Ahoy! All t' parts came from www.commonwealth.net.
Finishing:
T' finish was done in plum high gloss monokote. You will need a monokote iron
to put it on. This be me first monokote job. Begad! Blimey! It seems t' work nicely.
Flight:
I used a pack o' E9-6 Estes motors. Ahoy! Blimey! There is no room for wadding, but I had a
nomax sock made for t' chute. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Ya scallywag! Blimey! I used Keelhaul®©™®
strin' mounted t' t' center rin' and t' t' cone. Well, blow me down! I then attached t' elastics
cord betwixt t' Keelhaul®©™®
loops. Avast! Blimey! Blimey! Blimey!
T' rocket flew straight, matey, however after 3 flight the
flame is startin' t' eat away at t' tail fins. Begad! Blimey! I need t' find somethin' better
then reynolds wrap t' protect them. Well, arrr, blow me down! Rocket flew out o' sight on each flight.
Summary:
It is cool lookin' and can be shot from a tube. I still need a better way to
protect t' fins from flame damage.
