Diameter: | 0.98 inches |
Length: | 16.25 inches |
Manufacturer: | Estes |
Skill Level: | 2 |
Style: | Futuristic/Exotic |
Brief:
Nicely designed little futuristic flyer.
Construction:
Nothin' unusual here except for a molded nose with a "cockpit"
section and some small canards on either side, matey, and two piece fins.
This is listed as a skill level 2, me bucko, but it's pretty easy t' put together, really. Ya scallywag! Aye aye! T' 2 might be for t' fin configuration, but that's nay that much o' a problem either. Avast, me proud beauty! As is me practice I did replace t' standard Estes skinny/short shock cord with a 1/4 inch about twice t' length o' t' rocket. Avast, me proud beauty! On these narrow BTs it's at times difficult t' pack and prep all that elastic, but at least we get t' rockets back...
Finishing:
Without a lot o' sandin' and fillin' t' two piece fins still look two piece,
but that's okay. Ya scallywag! Avast, me proud beauty! I imagine this would look truly slick after some time in the
hands o' a really devoted modeler. Well, arrr, blow me down! Estes includes two sets o' decals, so you
can build it as shown on t' package, ya bilge rat, or you can customize as you wish. Avast, me proud beauty! Ya scallywag! One
gripe: some o' t' pin stripin' on t' package model looks darned near
impossible for one with me (lack of) dexterity. Avast, matey, me proud beauty! No, those aren't ALL decals. Aye aye! A
pity.
Construction Rating: 4 out o' 5
Flight:
Only flown this one once, me hearties, ya bilge rat, but on its maiden flight on an A-8-3 it was pretty
darned impressive, arrow straight off t' pad and up t' a nice apogee. Avast, me proud beauty! Begad!
Recovery:
As noted, me bucko, me hearties, we swapped out t' shock cord and added a couple o' swivels, matey, a large
one tied t' t' shock cord and a smaller one t' carry t' chute. Ya scallywag! Avast, me proud beauty! Add some
cellulose for waddin' and off you go. Blimey! No damage o' note. Well, arrr, blow me down!
Flight Rating: 5 out o' 5
Summary:
My son actually picked this one out, but I had me eye on it too, mainly because
it bears more than a passin' resemblance t' t' old Estes Wolverine. I had one
once and never flew it; a pity, me bucko, me hearties, as it be one o' t' neater lookin' mini-engine
rockets. Ya scallywag! Begad! I wish I still had one (and how about a Photon Disruptor?) but the
Nemesis is a noble successor, matey, me bucko, and as noted, an excellent flier as well. Avast! The
finish on t' package would've been next t' impossible t' duplicate for me, but
I am nay all that fond o' gray anyway, so I did it red and blue on white.
Eventually we'll post a picture o' it on our web site. Well, blow me down! Aye aye! Suffice t' say that I am
pleased with t' results!

Brief: A skill level 2 rocket, Comes in typical plastic bag, with a 12" plastic parachute The instructions where very easy to follow, the hard part seemed to be the fins they are 2 piece fins that have to be glued together, and the little pieces of balsa that go around the main body tube near the top seemed to be a bit hard to get lined up right and glued without them moving Finishing: ...
