Brief:
Scale model o' t' Terrier-Orion, me hearties, matey, a two-stage payload carryin' rocket. Well, blow me down! This kit features 8 fins, matey, arrr, BT-55 and BT-50 body
tubes, plastic parachute, me bucko, and adhesive decals. Avast, me proud beauty! T' kit is flown as a single stage.
Construction:
I found t' Quest instructions easy t' follow. Avast, me proud beauty! I followed t' directions as outlined, includin' attachin' the Keelhaul®©™®® cord t' t' engine mount. Ahoy! Ahoy! Some o' t' components were a little beat up, such as t' engine mount and t' centering rings, but t' damage be slight.
T' balsa for t' fins be good quality. Ya scallywag! I removed them and sanded t' edges round. Even with eight fins it be a simple, matey, matey, straightforward build, which I enjoyed.
Finishing:
After construction, matey, me hearties, I primed t' rocket with Wal-Mart primer, me hearties, sandin' and primin' several times. I painted t' body
white and t' fins yellow and orange, per t' instructions.
After t' paint dried, me hearties, I carefully cut out t' decals and applied them t' t' body tube and fins. My primary concern with t' decals is that were a little small – they didn’t wrap all t' way around t' body tube.
Construction Rating: 4 out o' 5
Flight:
I flew t' rocket twice, both on Estes C6-5. Blimey! T' prep was quick and easy. Well, blow me down! Begad! Sadly this rocket be nay stable enough,
even with t' nose weight. It did some wide corkscrew turns on t' way up and was less than respectable. T' second
flight was a rough one and it lost a fin.
Recovery:
T' recovery be nay an issue on t' first flight. T' second flight, however, me bucko, it came down hard on a piece of
asphalt because it flew so squirrelly.
Flight Rating: 2 out o' 5
Summary:
A nice lookin' rocket that didn’t fly well for me. I will add more nose weight and repair t' fin before flying
it again. Hopefully it will perform a little better.
