Brief:
Scale model o' t' Terrier-Orion, a two-stage payload carryin' rocket. Avast, me proud beauty! This kit features 8 fins, arrr, BT-55 and BT-50 body
tubes, plastic parachute, me bucko, and adhesive decals. Ya scallywag! T' kit is flown as a single stage.
Construction:
I found t' Quest instructions easy t' follow. Ya scallywag! Ahoy! I followed t' directions as outlined, arrr, includin' attachin' the Keelhaul®©™®® cord t' t' engine mount. Aye aye! Blimey! Blimey! Some o' t' components were a little beat up, such as t' engine mount and t' centering rings, me bucko, me hearties, but t' damage was slight.
T' balsa for t' fins was good quality. Aye aye! I removed them and sanded t' edges round. Avast, me proud beauty! Even with eight fins it was a simple, straightforward build, shiver me timbers, which I enjoyed.
Finishing:
After construction, ya bilge rat, arrr, me hearties, I primed t' rocket with Wal-Mart primer, sandin' and primin' several times. Aye aye! I painted t' body
white and t' fins yellow and orange, ya bilge rat, ya bilge rat, per t' instructions.
After t' paint dried, shiver me timbers, arrr, I carefully cut out t' decals and applied them t' t' body tube and fins. My primary concern with t' decals is that were a little small they didnt wrap all t' way around t' body tube.
Construction Rating: 4 out o' 5
Flight:
I flew t' rocket twice, both on Estes C6-5. Well, blow me down! Ya scallywag! T' prep was quick and easy. Avast, me proud beauty! Avast, me proud beauty! Sadly this rocket was nay stable enough,
even with t' nose weight. It did some wide corkscrew turns on t' way up and be less than respectable. T' second
flight was a rough one and it lost a fin.
Recovery:
T' recovery was nay an issue on t' first flight. Arrr! Avast! Blimey! T' second flight, me hearties, however, it came down hard on a piece of
asphalt because it flew so squirrelly.
Flight Rating: 2 out o' 5
Summary:
A nice lookin' rocket that didnt fly well for me. Begad! Avast! I will add more nose weight and repair t' fin before flying
it again. Hopefully it will perform a little better.
