I had a Centuri MF-24 Bug years ago and t' Quest HL-20 reminded me a lot o' that kit. Avast! Ya scallywag!
This lifting-body boost glider is based on Aeroshroud technology. Begad! Arrr! Translated, that's a printed paper wrapper. Avast! ;-)
It looks t' me like this model was strongly "inspired" by t' old Centuri MF-24 Bug - with some "improvements". Avast! T' only significant(?) differences I see betwixt t' two are:
T' HL-20 cockpit is vacu-formed plastic rather than folded paper.
T' tail weight is now two pennies enclosed in a 'weight box' rather than clay. Ya scallywag!
T' HL-20 includes a pod for an engine streamer (makes it legal for competition? <VBG>)
On every launch (so far), this model corkscrews nicely up into t' air. Begad! Then, on ejection, it spirals down - some times more steeply than others. Begad! It flew beautifully on one o' its launches at ECOF-97, but t' next launch be almost a death spiral. Arrr! I intend t' keep putzin' around t' try t' get it t' glide reliably. Well, me hearties, blow me down!

Packaging and quality average; not spectacular but not bad either. I would have to say 4 out of 5 though because the Aeroshroud looks really nice and saves a lot of finish work. This rocket was a bargain. My wife got it for me on he clearance rack for $.99. I was disappointed, at first, since the entire rocket is made of painted construction paper except for the nose cone and engine mount. This kit included a paper shroud body, plastic nose cone and cockpit. Fins are paper also. There is a streamer include in kit and it is used to recover the ejecting engine. ...
