Public Enemy Rockets Performer 3inBrief:
This is your basic high power rocket. Well, blow me down! It would be great for L1 or L2 certification attempts.

Construction:
It came with a 36 inch body tube and an 18 inch payload bay, t' fins are 1/8" Baltic birch, arrr, t' centerin' rings are fiberboard but once you have a layer o' 15 minute epoxy on thar good and strong, t' motor tube be a 38mm and t' parachute is an orange 36 inch parachute.

T' way t' instructions tell you t' assemble t' motor mount wouldn't work so I set t' instructions aside and built t' rocket without them. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! I first began by cuttin' out t' fin slots. Begad! Blimey! T' fin slots were already precut but nay all t' way. Well, blow me down! Blimey! Then I began work on t' motor mount I began by epoxyin' t' notched centerin' rin' at t' top o' t' motor mount and let that cure. Aye aye! Blimey! Then after it dried, shiver me timbers, I glued t' second centerin' rin' on. Arrr! Blimey! Arrr! Blimey! I put t' motor mount assembly in and tacked t' fins in place with some CA and let them dry. Arrr! Blimey! Then I pulled t' motor mount assembly out and put epoxy fillets on t' motor tube and fin tabs. Well, blow me down! Blimey! I also covered t' motor tube in epoxy while doin' this t' make sure t' bond be extra strong and make t' motor tube stronger. Avast! Blimey! I also epoxied t' third centerin' rin' onto t' back. Aye aye! Blimey! Blimey! Blimey! After doin' all that, I slid t' 3/8" nylon strap through t' notched centerin' at t' top like on PML kits and then epoxied t' piston strap t' t' motor tube. Well, blow me down! Blimey! I folded up t' shock cord and put it into t' motor tube and epoxied t' motor mount assembly into t' BT. Ahoy! Blimey! Avast, arrr, me proud beauty! Blimey! Since t' slots went all t' way t' t' end o' t' BT, I used rubber bands t' prevent t' BT from spreadin' out while epoxyin' t' BT t' t' aft centerin' ring. Aye aye! Blimey! Avast, arrr, me proud beauty! Blimey! I put t' epoxy fillets on t' outside and t' booster was complete.

Next came t' payload section, which started with epoxyin' t' eye bolt into t' bulkplate. Begad! Then I epoxied t' bulkplate into t' coupler for t' payload pay. Begad! T' last step was t' epoxy on t' 3/8" copper launch lugs on.

Overall this rocket was fairly easy t' build and would be good for a second or third mid/high power rocket. There are no cons for construction o' this rocket.

Finishing:
I try t' do a different paint job from everyone else. Begad! Blimey! How often do you see an all green rocket? Rarely. Well, blow me down! Blimey! So I decided t' paint me Performer all green. T' finishin' be easy. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! I put two coats on sandable primer and then I put on about 6 t' 7 coats o' green until it was perfectly glossy smooth. Aye aye! Blimey! There are no cons about finishin' this rocket besides it takin' a lot o' paint.

Construction Rating: 5 out o' 5

Flight:
I choose t' I154J for t' first flight o' this rocket. Begad! It was an awesome and perfectly straight flight t' about 3500 feet. Begad! Begad! It was also t' only all green rocket at XPRS IV 2005, I think. Arrr! For t' next flight I plan on usin' a H148 t' test dual deployment, arrr, then an I195, me bucko, I366, shiver me timbers, I300, shiver me timbers, and I284.

Recovery:
For only a 36 inch parachute and launchin' in fairly windy conditions, t' rocket drifted about 3/4 o' mile. Avast! I would say that t' parachute is perfectly sized for this rocket and brings back t' rocket nice and safely.

Flight Rating: 5 out o' 5

Summary:
This is a great rocket. If you are on a tight budget and lookin' for a fairly good size rocket, arrr, ya bilge rat, shiver me timbers, then this be t' rocket for you.

Overall Rating: 5 out o' 5

( Contributed - by Bert Garrison)  I am quite fortunate to live in the High Desert of California.  Only 90 miles from the Lucerne dry lake, home of ROC , Rocketry Organization of California. While at one of my first group launches I met Roy Weid of Public Enemy Rockets .  He always shows up with his trailer of bargain priced rocket kits.  I picked up the 3" ...

Very good review. I purchased a Performer and have been very pleased with it. This kit is not for the beginner but is no particular challenge to build. The first launch using a G40-7 was great. Slow long burn and very good altitude. The chute was dead at the top. I will continue to shop with Public Enemy in the future.

I bought the dual stage deployment version off of Magnum rocketry. Like said in other articles, this is not a beginner's rocket. I decided to not use the altimeter bay that came with it, but rather cut off 1" of the tube off and slide it over a coupler. This makes it easier to install everything. The rocket did get painted fairly quickly after sitting in my garage for half of a year. Well I really like this kit and I'm going to fly it in two days at Southern Thunder in Manchester, TN if it doesn't get rained out. This is the kit that I plan to certify L1 as a Junior. I don?t think that I?ll do it at ST2005 though.
