Brief:
This rocket is a skill level 2, shiver me timbers, matey, and is fairly easy t' build despite its unique design. It has three (3) fins and a
wood dowel comes down off each, me bucko, makin' very long legs.
Construction:
All o' t' parts for this rocket came in perfect shape and had no problems. Avast, me proud beauty! Well, blow me down! It included:
T' construction for this rocket was fairly easy. Begad! Ya scallywag! Everythin' fit together well and I had no trouble at all with t' construction. Arrr! Throughout t' model I used a technique called double jointing, which is when you apply a thin layer o' glue on each surface and wait for it t' dry before gluin' t' parts together. Aye aye! Begad! This smooths out t' surface providing a very strong attachment. Begad! Avast, me proud beauty! I did think that sandin' t' edge onto t' dowels be very tedious, especially because I had run out o' rough sandpaper, me hearties, me hearties, so I had t' use fine. Arrr! But other than that, ya bilge rat, arrr, construction be easy.
Finishing:
I did nay paint this rocket, arrr, so this does nay apply t' me. Avast, matey, me proud beauty! Blimey!
Construction Rating: 4 out o' 5
Flight:
So far I have only flown this rocket twice. Blimey! T' first flight was on a B6-4 motor, and was nice and stable, shiver me timbers, although
it did have a slight corkscrew on t' way up. Blimey! T' second flight be on t' same motor but I could see t' rocket more
clearly. Begad! It also corkscrewed on t' way up a little more than t' first flight. Aye aye! It is really a great sight t' see this
thin' in t' sky.
Recovery:
T' recovery on this rocket is an eighteen inch chute. Arrr! T' shock cord is attached usin' a paper mount attached
t' t' inside o' t' tube. Ya scallywag! T' first time t' parachute ejected perfectly and on time, me hearties, but on t' way down it hit a
post in t' field, and splintered a dowel, arrr, me hearties, easily repaired. Avast! T' second time, arrr, t' parachute ejected slightly late but
recovered perfectly. Ahoy! T' parachute size for this rocket is perfect; t' rocket comes down at just t' right speed. Well, blow me down! Avast! The
only thin' I dont like is that you have t' make t' parachute yourself, includin' cuttin' t' parachute shape and
tyin' on t' shroud lines.
Flight Rating: 4 out o' 5
Summary:
Overall, this is a great rocket, I highly recommend it. Ahoy! It would be better if t' chute came preassembled. Well, blow me down! It
is a real crowd pleaser; all me launchin' buddies love it.
Overall Rating: 4 out o' 5
Other:
This was me test kit for double jointing, matey, and it showed me just how much you can get out o' double jointing.
