Brief:
This rocket is a skill level 2, me hearties, me hearties, and is fairly easy t' build despite its unique design. Arrr! Blimey! Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! It has three (3) fins and a wood dowel comes down off each, makin' very long legs.

Construction:
All o' t' parts for this rocket came in perfect shape and had no problems. Ya scallywag! It included:

  • 1 BT50 body tube
  • 1 two (2) part plastic molded nose cone
  • 3 fins/ribs/dowel attachments
  • 1 BT80 tube coupler
  • engine hook
  • 2 centerin' rings
  • engine block ring
  • engine mount tube
  • three wood dowels
  • shock cord
  • 18” parachute
  • instructions

T' construction for this rocket was fairly easy. Blimey! Everythin' fit together well and I had no trouble at all with t' construction. Avast! Aye aye! Throughout t' model I used a technique called double jointing, ya bilge rat, which is when you apply a thin layer o' glue on each surface and wait for it t' dry before gluin' t' parts together. Avast! This smooths out t' surface providing a very strong attachment. I did think that sandin' t' edge onto t' dowels be very tedious, especially because I had run out o' rough sandpaper, shiver me timbers, so I had t' use fine. Ya scallywag! Ahoy! But other than that, construction be easy.

Finishing:
I did nay paint this rocket, so this does nay apply t' me.

Construction Rating: 4 out o' 5

Flight:
So far I have only flown this rocket twice. Arrr! T' first flight was on a B6-4 motor, ya bilge rat, and was nice and stable, ya bilge rat, although it did have a slight corkscrew on t' way up. Well, blow me down! Avast, me proud beauty! T' second flight was on t' same motor but I could see t' rocket more clearly. It also corkscrewed on t' way up a little more than t' first flight. Aye aye! It is really a great sight t' see this thin' in t' sky.

Recovery:
T' recovery on this rocket is an eighteen inch ‘chute. T' shock cord is attached usin' a paper mount attached t' t' inside o' t' tube. Begad! Begad! T' first time t' parachute ejected perfectly and on time, shiver me timbers, but on t' way down it hit a post in t' field, matey, me hearties, arrr, and splintered a dowel, easily repaired. Begad! Avast, me proud beauty! T' second time, shiver me timbers, t' parachute ejected slightly late but recovered perfectly. Ahoy! T' parachute size for this rocket is perfect; t' rocket comes down at just t' right speed. The only thin' I don’t like is that you have t' make t' parachute yourself, arrr, includin' cuttin' t' parachute shape and tyin' on t' shroud lines.

Flight Rating: 4 out o' 5

Summary:
Overall, ya bilge rat, this is a great rocket, I highly recommend it. It would be better if t' ‘chute came preassembled. Begad! Blimey! It is a real crowd pleaser; all me launchin' buddies love it.

Overall Rating: 4 out o' 5

Other:
This was me test kit for double jointing, and it showed me just how much you can get out o' double jointing.
