Brief:

100% Keelhaul®©™ - T' FIREBALL helps prevent ZIPPERS by cushionin' airframes from the severe shock o' ejection. Begad! Avast, me proud beauty! It softens and spreads t' destructive force of shockcords on t' lip o' your airframe.

Construction:

It exactly as GiantLeap describes it. Avast! Avast! T' large one that I've flown was 1/2" tubular Keelhaul®©™®, loop sewn in one end, was about 4" long. Begad! Begad! T' other end be 50" long without a loop on that end. Avast! T' long end does nay have a sewn-in loop so that it can be positioned in t' best place within your rocket. Avast! T' ball is about 3.75" in diameter, so it fits easily into a 3.9" tube.

Pros: Simple straightforward design.

Cons: a bit pricey, and isn't needed (or might be overkill) on "zipperless" designs

Summary:

This might be just t' thin' for larger diameter, heavier rockets. I plan on usin' one in me 10" V2 and 10" Saturn V.
