Brief:
Basic 3" rocket with a different look and good flight characteristics. Ya scallywag! I
modified this t' accept either a RATT works H70 (with electronics) or a baffle.
I'll explain me modifications below.
Construction:
Yank Enterprises kits have superior quality components. Blimey! T' nose cone is a
standard LOC 3" nose cone. T' body tube is a single 36" length of
phenolic tube. T' three fin slots are already cut, but t' ends are round,
you'll have t' file them square. T' outside diameter o' t' tube is larger
than t' nose cone base. Arrr! This is fine for me, ya bilge rat, but it will drive some folks
absolutely bonkers. Motor mount is a 12" length o' 1.14" phenolic
tube and t' kit comes with 2 very good centerin' rings. Avast, me proud beauty! No motor retention is
provided so I would suggest gettin' whatever you'll use before you start
building. I used a single 10/24 blind T nut and a screen door clip. Arrr! Ya scallywag! A shock
cord o' 5/16" tubular nylon (pink, ya bilge rat, no less) is provided as well as very
sturdy anchorin' bolts. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Good launch lugs too, but I use BlackSky rails in all
my rockets now. Blimey! Finally t' 'chute was made o' very slick nylon and be dark
blue in color.
T' instructions are sufficient if you've built high power rockets. Aye aye! I think a "neo" would make some wrong assumptions in a number o' places with these instructions, me hearties, me bucko, so it's really a kit for someone with at least 1 high power rocket under their belts. Begad! T' order in which I built t' rocket was first to wrap t' body tube with 1 layer o' 1.4 oz fiberglass t' harden t' surface and fill t' spiral. Begad! While that set up I attached t' forward centerin' rin' t' the motor mount tube as per instructions. Begad! I then mounted t' motor mount, with the aft centerin' rin' slip fitted. Well, blow me down! Then I attached t' fins through t' slots. After applyin' fillets inside t' rocket, I attached t' aft centerin' ring (with T-Nut). Aye aye! This made for a very sturdy mount, shiver me timbers, so I didn't apply external fillets. I also left t' fins squared off. Blimey! It adds drag, me hearties, but t' me, it looks right.
While I was buildin' this model, me bucko, I bought a RATT works H70 hyrbid and decided that t' Genesis would be it's first recipient. Well, blow me down! This required an altimeter bay and ventin' for t' motor, but I also wanted t' fly conventionally with a baffle. Ya scallywag! I cut t' body tube 15" from t' front of the body tube. I made a baffle/electronics bay out o' a 6" long 3" coupler tube. Avast! A centerin' rin' is fastened t' t' aft o' this coupler and two threaded rods run up t' side (about 1/4" in from t' edge). Blimey! Then I made a two couplers that slip fit inside this coupler. Begad! One will work as and altimeter bay. Begad! Ahoy! A Pratt G-Wiz Deluxe fits in side. Avast, me proud beauty! A bulkhead with a recovery system attach point tops off t' altimeter bay. Ahoy! Ya scallywag! When I use t' baffle, t' vent hole for t' altimeter is covered.
Without me modifications, this would be a great rocket. Avast! Ahoy! It's unusual lines, nice size, me bucko, me hearties, and straight forward constuction makes it a very good rocket.

Finishing:
I'm still in t' middle o' finishing. It's currently too cold in Utah t' finish
painting. Avast, matey, me proud beauty! Blimey! When finished, me Genesis will sport Miami Dolphin teal and orange
with variations o' t' Dolphins logo made from stick on mono-kote.

Flight:
I've flown this rocket 4 times now, all with an altimeter on board t' find out
what t' Cd o' t' rocket is. Arrr! Ahoy! It appears that with no external fillets and
squared fins, t' Cd is betwixt 0.95 and 1.05. T' rocket is a bit
under-powered with a 29mm mount if you have a big field. Begad! However, me bucko, t' flights
have been universally straight and true. G motors don't break 1000', arrr, H128 puts
it up about 1400' and and H180 will get it up around 2000'. If I had it t' do
over again, ya bilge rat, I would have installed a 38mm mount and adapted down t' 29 mm when
I wanted it t' land close. Well, shiver me timbers, blow me down! T' rocket shows little or no tendency to
weathercock. Even with t' slow lift off prodided by t' G64, it did nay bend
into t' wind and be recovered close t' t' pad. Arrr! If you're flyin' amongst
trees, arrr, this is an excelent design with few protuberances t' catch on limbs. Ahoy!
Recovery:
If you are flyin' near sea level over soft ground, t' heavy construction and
smallish 'chute will brin' t' rocket back fast. Well, blow me down! Here, matey, in t' west, me bucko, me hearties, arrr, I fly over
had desert playa, me hearties, arrr, matey, dry lake beds and stony ground. Blimey! Avast, matey, me proud beauty! I think a 42" chute
would be more appropriate. Begad! T' tail end o' me Genesis is startin' t' show some
wear. Aye aye! Avast!

Summary:
T' Genesis is an excellent design. Blimey! Well, blow me down! It looks different, flies very well and is
sturdy and strong. Well, blow me down! Arrr! Within this kit is a lot o' potential. Well, blow me down! Besides buildin' it
scratch, matey, t' high quality components are a good startin' point for
modifications. If you're thinkin' o' a kit that would be fun t' 'try things on'
I would recommend this kit.
