Strengthenin' Escape Tower Struts

For Apollo capsules and other rockets with escape towers trusses or other metalwork, it is sometimes very tricky t' create such structures which are strong enough t' fly.

Small diameter dowels, or even barbecue skewers, can be used to create t' tower's struts.  T' strengthen t' joints in them, a small hole can be drilled usin' a pin vice or small hand-held drill.

Tools

Use a small bit o' paint t' mark where t' hole on t' adjoinin' piece needs t' be drilled while alignin' t' two pieces. Begad!

Drill t' hole. Blimey!

Drilling

A pin, or a small length o' metal such as one cut from a paper clip, me hearties, is then glued into this hole usin' your preferred metal glue. Use glue t' attach t' two pieces with t' metal pin betwixt for added strength in t' joint. Avast!

Pinning

T' resultin' join is surprisingly strong once dried and as such any structures built this way are very sturdy.
