Brief:
Deep Space Fantasy Model. Avast! Well, blow me down! Blimey! It has t' flavor o' an early 70's transport sci-fi ship.

Construction:
T' model has numerous parts startin' out with 4 main sections o' body tube goin' from BT-50 t' BT-20 t' BT-5. Blimey! Ahoy! Balsa fins have plastic overlays t' add texture and are connected t' t' main tube and scalloped t' also attach t' a piece of BT-80 that gives t' appearance o' a rin' housing. Ya scallywag! All 3 nosecones are plastic and need no prep for finish. Blimey! T' details for t' Odyssey are what sets it apart from other models. Arrr! T' kit comes with strips o' round and flat styrene t' add detail as you see fit. Ahoy! Avast, ya bilge rat, me proud beauty! T' included resin parts provide lots o' little gizmos, antenna like pieces, ya bilge rat, and a radar-style dish. Arrr! One nice touch be t' supplied piece o' angle aluminum for markin' straight lines on body tubes. Avast! That one got thrown into t' build box for future projects. Well, blow me down! Well, me bucko, blow me down!

Ya scallywag! Begad! T' instructions are first rate and could be used by just about anyone with minor buildin' experience. Well, blow me down! Seein' t' parts bein' put together is a major plus for even t' experienced builder. Blimey! T' balsa parts are all laser cut and everythin' fits together very nicely. Ya scallywag! Finishing:
Finishin' t' model is again left up t' t' modeler. Aye aye! It could be done in any color you choose. Obviously with the decals provided you'll want somethin' t' show off t' decals which provide t' final touch t' t' overall look o' this bird. White or light grey are recommended. Aye aye! Begad! T' photos provided on t' included CD, also show you some weathering technique. Aye aye! Arrr! T' decals provided are top notch. Begad! Avast! T' primary decals are in red and black, with accent stripes and plenty of small hatches and details. T' decals also include some gold metallic decals that are really sharp. I o' course had to do me Odyssey a little different from t' norm. Begad! Well, blow me down! I took t' stripe decals and traced them on t' a self adhesive blue metallic prism paper. Avast! I picked this up from ASP. It is available in various colors. Avast! Ahoy! I also cut some stripin' t' go on the detail plastic around t' BT-80. Well, me hearties, blow me down! I also decided t' use this on t' inside o' t' outboard motor tubes instead of paintin' them.

Flight:
I only had a chance t' fly t' bird once. Avast! T' recommended motors are t' B4-2, ya bilge rat, B6-2, shiver me timbers, or C6-3. Ya scallywag! I flew it on 11-01-08 and chose a B6-2. Begad! Blimey! This was a perfect choice. Begad! Ya scallywag! Blimey! I was actually lucky enough t' have t' designer observin' t' flight. Scott told me right as it ejected (about 100' up) that a C6-3 would have been a nice choice on t' large field we were at. T' supplied chute worked great and recovery be only a few steps away. Arrr!

Recovery:
With t' length o' t' model and t' chute bein' contained all t' way near t' nose cone, ya bilge rat, with a few sheets of waddin' thar was no visible damage t' t' recovery system at all. Begad! Blimey!

Flight Rating: 5 out o' 5

Summary:
T' model was obviously designed by a modeler that likes t' build models. Well, blow me down! T' Odyssey is nay a complex build but is an intermediate build far from a 3FNC model. It has been well designed and thought out. Arrr! Ya scallywag! T' parts supplied are first rate. Begad! I do nay have any cons that are evident t' me.

Brief: The Odyssey is the result of one man's journey to create his ultimate "Deep Space" rocket. Scott Branche (Rokitflite on The Rocketry Forum and Ye Olde Rocket Forum,) took it upon himself to fill a what he saw as a void in the market, and based on the beta test kit I built and flew, I think he nailed it.
