Brief:
I can't believe it. Arrr! I actually bought a Micro Maxx starter set and a bunch of engines. Well, blow me down! Ya scallywag! Blimey! I guess t' desire t' launch more than once a month (twice at best), and without travelin' 45 minutes or more, got t' better o' me!

Construction:
I got me set, with a single Tomahawk Cruise Missile, at Wal-Mart for $9.99 + tax, ya bilge rat, as I remember. Arrr! Blimey! They only had this and a couple o' 4FNC rockets available at t' time and I wasn't too interested in those. T' set included three Micro Maxx-II engines and four igniters. Ahoy! Blimey! These engines have 150% t' total impulse of t' originals (0.3 vs. Ya scallywag! Blimey! 0.2 N-sec). Blimey! Blimey! Begad! Blimey! T' launcher appears t' be as described in earlier reviews and includes t' base unit with integral controller, shiver me timbers, shiver me timbers, a three-piece interlockin' shell, launch rod, ya bilge rat, safety interlock/launch rod cap, and a display stand for t' Tomahawk.

Various RocketsFlight:
I am impressed with t' launcher. Ahoy! It is well engineered and houses all launch components in a nice self-contained package. Avast, me proud beauty! Avast, me proud beauty! So far, me hearties, me hearties, ya bilge rat, I have launched five rockets with no ignition problems. Well, blow me down! I be worried about t' launcher matin' with non-Quest kits, but have nay had a problem so far. Ya scallywag! Ya scallywag! My launches off this controller have included:

  1. Tomahawk - successful
  2. Tomahawk - successful
  3. Mini105 (a converted 10.5mm rocket) - successful
  4. MM-CTV (Micro Maxx Cluster Test Vehicle) on 3 engines - successful
  5. Apogee Micro-V2 - too heavy for this engine

Even with t' heftier MMX-II motors, t' Tomahawk proved t' be barely stable. Aye aye! That is, it kept a generally upward trajectory while it wobbled around. T' piston ejection worked fine, me bucko, but t' streamer did nay deploy. The performance be nay that great either but it landed close by, me bucko, then I bought the set for t' launcher anyway. Well, matey, blow me down!

Summary:
I am very happy with me MMX launch system and have plans t' buy some Nano Rocketry kits and tubin' for scratch-builds. Begad! T' MMX-II motors have enough impulse t' be interestin' on small rockets. Blimey! T' controller is well built and is easily adaptable t' run off 12v. However, me bucko, shiver me timbers, me hearties, t' launcher has been reliable for me and, shiver me timbers, for now, I am happy havin' a small portable system. My ratings for this starter set are: Launch system - 5 MMX-II motors - 5 Tomahawk RTF - 2 Composite ratin' - 4.5

Overall Rating: 4 out o' 5

interesing rocket-in a good way. it flies kinda weird but for the most part, not bad. it leaves the rod and "flies" at a 45? angle. still another good rocket in the MicroMaxx series from quest!

I agree with most of the review. Our Tomahawk probably flew a little more stable than his but not quite as good as the Saturn V or simpler 4FNC Quest Micro Maxx models.
