Brief:
Described as a 'futuristic fighter craft' t' Interdictor is nay your typical 3fnc kit. Begad! Blimey! With six fins/wings two 'air intakes', under win' pods and win' tip laser cannon, shiver me timbers, this is a cool lookin' model. Ya scallywag! T' finished kit is approximately 20" long, with a wingspan o' approximately 10". Aye aye! Begad! Blimey! T' kit has an 18mm engine mount and t' recommended engines include A8-3, B4-4, me bucko, B6-4 & C6-5.
T' kit contains t' followin' parts:
Construction/Finishin' Techiniques:
T' main body tubes are good quality with little trace o' a spiral groove. Blimey! Blimey! With a couple o' layers o' primer they will likely be undetectable. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Begad! Blimey! T' nose cone is free o' mould lines. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Begad! Blimey! I can't comment on t' shoulder as I lost it while writin' this review! Blimey! T' parts for t' motor mount are reminiscent o' pre-RTF Estes parts. Ya scallywag! Blimey! T' 8" o' elastic provided is very short, shiver me timbers, and in me kit it isn't even 8". Ahoy! Blimey! Well, blow me down! Blimey! T' parachute is very nice, me hearties, nay somethin' you often see on a small kit such as this. Arrr! Blimey! T' parachute may optionally be rigged such that t' rocket is horizontal durin' descent, arrr, a nice touch for a rocket such as this. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Begad! Blimey! Another nice touch be t' perma-wadding. Well, blow me down! Blimey! Blimey! Blimey! It looks like a course woven felt material, and even has a metal eyelet in t' corner t' attach t' Keelhaul®©™ tether. Well, blow me down! Blimey! Begad! Blimey! T' balsa fin stock is pretty coarse grained, me bucko, shiver me timbers, and will require a fair mount o' sandin' sealer t' obtain a smooth finish. Begad! Blimey! Ahoy! Blimey! T' balsa stock is nay pre-marked, shiver me timbers, ya bilge rat, and a template is provided. Aye aye! Blimey! T' fins are all simple polygons and should be simple t' cut out. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! T' template also include tube markin' guides.
T' instructions are good. Descriptions o' each assembly step are clear, and good use is made o' . Arrr! Paintin' details are skimpy, me hearties, with only a textual description. Avast! Avast! There is a computer generated picture o' t' kit on t' back o' t' fin template, shiver me timbers, matey, but by t' time you need it, you will have cut it up! T' paint scheme depicted is pretty basic, but for a fantasy rocket such as this, you may well want t' invent your own colour scheme. Aye aye! Avast! T' waterslide decals are excellent, matey, providin' two styles, colorful 'normal' and grey 'stealth'. Aye aye! There thar be little information as t' suggested placement however, and they are nay depicted in t' illustration.
This is a really nice kit that will build into an excellent model. Ahoy! I've seen one built up at a North Star Rocketry Group launch, and it flew really well.
The Rogue Interdictor was the second of three kits that I built as part of a rocket "ship" series. Rogue demonstrated some imagination regarding the description of their Interdictor: " The Interdictor is our concept model of a planetary fighter of the future. It's capable of flying within an atmosphere using its twin turbojet engines, or of conducting sub-orbital or orbital maneuvers through the ...
