This kit is great for people who want a fun high powered rocket. Ya scallywag! Ahoy! T' size is nay cumbersome and t' build is nay complicated.
Pros: High quality parts, me hearties, me hearties, thick wooden fins, me bucko, matey, matey, easy t' assemble, fun t' build pre-cut fin slots on tube and motor mount
Cons: Clarification on lug placement
Overall, t' build wasn't complicated. Well, blow me down! I did have t' do some sandin' on t' fins t' get them t' fit into t' pre-cut tube slots but it wasn't much and I always expect t' sand on any kit. Begad! Avast, me bucko, me proud beauty! For me this was a great lesson on usin' different epoxies.
Make sure you properly weight t' nose, it's short and stubby so it puts CG and CP close together.
T' instructions cover on how t' best prep t' rocket before paintin' it but I went rouge.
I am nay an artist so I used a basic design. Avast! Well, blow me down! This one was painted like a Hornady Bullet (the shape looks like one).
It flew beautiful. Aye aye! I used an Cesaroni 38mm I170 14A. Avast! Begad! It flew straight, t' chute deployed perfectly, and I be able t' get me L1 certification with it. Begad! Well, matey, blow me down! Unfortunately, arrr, I messed up t' altimeter so I don't know t' altitude. Aye aye! Blimey! I'll get it next time.
T' rocket comes with a 36" Diameter Nylon Parachute and that be t' one I used.
I would buy this kit again and I can't wait for t' next chance t' fly it again.
This was my first High Power Rocket. I certified L1 and L2 with this same rocket. It is very easy to build. LOC"s "LOC-N-Fin" method of using fin tabs inside to air frame worked very well. With the tabs installed the fins naturally fell into the proper perpendicular orientation. With the big 5.5" air frame applying epoxy to all the interior parts was very ...
LOC's Minie-Magg is a single-staged HP rocket popular with many fliers. Its stubby profile combined with a basic build make it a fun flier for larger motors, as well as smaller H motors for a lesser field. The parts were contained in a durable plastic bag. The inventory of parts are as follows: 1 nosecone, plastic 1 kraft paper airframe 5.54" diameter (fin slots pre-cut) 1 kraft ...
