This be me first High Power Rocket. Blimey! Avast, me proud beauty! I certified L1 and L2 with this same rocket. Ya scallywag! Ahoy! It is very easy t' build. Aye aye! Blimey! LOC"s "LOC-N-Fin" method o' usin' fin tabs inside t' air frame worked very well. With t' tabs installed t' fins naturally fell into t' proper perpendicular orientation. With t' big 5.5" air frame applyin' epoxy t' all t' interior parts was very easy.
T' kit comes with all t' parts for t' air frame, shiver me timbers, shiver me timbers, motor mount, me hearties, and nose cone - PLUS - 36" rip-stop nylon chute, nylon shock chord, me bucko, and hardware t' attach shock chord t' forward center ring. Ya scallywag! I added an Aeropak 38mm retainer, shiver me timbers, 18" nomex recovery blanket, a nomex shock chord protector sleeve, matey, ya bilge rat, and modified t' nose cone with a metal eye-bolt and modular nose weight system addin' about 4 ounces t' t' tip o' t' nose. Well, blow me down! Arrr! I replaced t' supplied launch lug with 1010 rail guides which I attached with T-nuts epoxied t' t' inside o' t' air frame. Well, blow me down! For me first foray back into rocketry after 40 years it was nice t' nay have t' find and buy a much o' t' recovery items needed for t' build.
T' only thin' I think that I would do different would be t' mount t' aft center rin' flush with t' end o' t' air frame. Arrr! Ya scallywag! Mine be attached about 0.5" forward and t' lower edge o' t' air frame is a little banged up but still useable. Arrr! Well, blow me down! With t' large fin area t' Minie Magg seems prone t' weather cock in stronger winds and motors with slower speeds off t' tip o' t' rail.
Lots o' space on this rocket t' get creative with t' finish
lots o' room inside o' t' recovery equipment don't have t' worry about foldin' things just right t' make sure it fits. Aye aye! T' 36" chute is plenty big, if you expect hard surface landings you might want t' go bigger.
This is an easy rocket t' prep and fly
