Brief:
T' Texas Firefly from Semroc is a 2-stage great small flyin' rocket. Well, blow me down! Ahoy! It comes
with a 12" parachute.
Construction:
Kit has balsa nose cone and laser cut balsa fins.
T' instruction were easy t' follow. Blimey! T' only thin' I did nay like be the way they had you t' mark t' fins on t' tube. Blimey! I would have liked it better if they would have used a wraparound markin' guide. Well, blow me down! Begad! I liked t' way that both engines had a engine hook t' keep engines in.
Finishing:
Had no problems with finishin' but when I sprayed clear coat after t' rocket
was painted, me bucko, me hearties, t' decals seemed t' melt and colors ran down t' side o' the
rocket.
Construction Rating: 4 out o' 5
Flight:
For t' first flight I used a B6-0 in t' bottom and B6-6 in upper stage. We
had high winds o' 15-18mph at flight time. Ya scallywag! Avast, me proud beauty! It handled wind with no problem and
the rocket went straight up. Arrr! Separation happened with no problems. Blimey! On the
second flight I used a B6-0 in first stage and B6-6 in upper stage and flew it
in 8-12mph winds. Well, blow me down! Blimey! Separation still happened with no problem. Chute came out
great and rocket floated t' t' ground. T' only problem was when booster
tumbled t' ground. Blimey! Blimey! When it hit t' ground, me hearties, arrr, it broke a fin but was easily glued
back on later.
Recovery:
On t' first flight, t' nose cone went thru parachute causin' it t' be tangled
up. Begad! But even tumblin' t' t' ground, me hearties, arrr, t' rocket had no damage.
Flight Rating: 4 out o' 5
Summary:
A rocket that was fun t' build and fly.

Brief: The Texas Firefly is a gap staged 18mm kit from Semroc. This kit exemplifies everything I love about Semroc: high quality, wide selection, low price, outstanding customer service. The rocket stands 14.3in and 1.34in diameter (ST-13 is slightly larger than BT-55 tubing). The total weight is 2.1oz. Construction: The assembly is so utterly straightforward that it hardly ...
