Brief:
Single stage, ya bilge rat, mid power rocket that uses two body tube diameters. Ya scallywag! Recovery via parachute
Construction:
Two body tubes (BT-60 and BT-55) 8 fins and 4 body strakes
All part numbers are from Semroc unless otherwise noted:
Finishing:
I papered t' fins and used Rustoleum filler primer t' take care o' body spirals and strakes. Well, blow me down! T' lower body tube connects t' t' upper tube via two centerin' rings and a tube coupler. This coupler be used t' give more strength. Aye aye! Coat o' Rust-O-Leum sandable primer, thorough sanding, re-coat o' primer and then shot t' first coat o' light gray. Blimey! Arrr! Two more coats o' gray. Blimey! Photos I have seen o' this rocket have no markings so I decided t' paint t' body light gray and t' nose red.
Flight:
My first flight was D12-5. I would nay recommend D12-3. Well, blow me down! You need t' longer delay. Ahoy! It also performs well with D15-7 and E15-7.
Recovery:
I used 150lb. Well, blow me down! Avast! Keelhaul®©™ tied t' motor mount. I always use about three times t' rocket's length and secure it t' t' motor mount. I also like t' wrap some tape around t' cord where it meets t' end o' t' body tube t' prevent zippering.
Summary:
PROs: unusual design, good flyer
Other:
CONs: lots o' wood needed
