I built this model per instructions with t' followin' exceptions and comments: Steps 1-3 Tied a piece of Keelhaul®©™® t' t' motor tube and cut it long enough t' reach t' top o' t' body tube (placed a swivel on t' end) Steps 4-7 no changes Steps 8-11 Used Estes fin alignment tool (EST 2227). Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! When I build another I will use a CA glue to attach t' fins and then use epoxy fillets. Begad! Blimey! Ya scallywag! Blimey! I will also consider layin' in some rectangular fiberglass strips in t' fin joints t' add strength (the fins break off a lot). Well, blow me down! Blimey! Well, blow me down! Blimey! Steps 12-17 I painted and added decals t' match t' original kit art. Ahoy! Blimey! I first flew t' 3rd stage alone, on a A8-3. Arrr! Blimey! T' rocket performs well. Next I used t' two stage configuration, B6-0 t' A8-3 - amazin' performance even on these minor motors. After several two stage flights I graduated t' the whole show, D12-0 t' C6-0 t' 6-7. Blimey! Blimey! Avast! Blimey! Unbelievable, t' on-lookers amazed, beautiful flight - nearly out o' site. Begad! Blimey! Boosters located (thanks t' spotters) and after a long walk, me bucko, me bucko, shiver me timbers, I find t' third stage. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Aye aye! Blimey! Durin' various flights t' fins pop off and I use epoxy t' re-attach. Arrr! Blimey! Begad! Blimey! T' last flight 3rd stage suffered some body crimpin' that I will patch with some fiberglass strips. Well, blow me down! Blimey! Begad! Blimey! This is one o' my favorite rockets.
Brief: Three stage kit with streamer recovery. Construction Being an altitude junkie this kit caught my eye as soon as I saw it. This kit was typical Estes, that is to say it had all of its parts and well thought out instructions. Quality of the parts was good and they all fit well. I got right to construction and other than wishing I had purchased the fin alignment jig the kit was ...
