Brief:
Three stage kit with streamer recovery.
Construction
Bein' an altitude junkie this kit caught me eye as soon as I saw it. Well, blow me down! Begad! This kit
was typical Estes, matey, ya bilge rat, that is t' say it had all o' its parts and well thought out
instructions. Aye aye! Aye aye! Quality o' t' parts was good and they all fit well. I got right
to construction and other than wishin' I had purchased t' fin alignment jig
the kit be straight forward t' build. Aye aye! No surprises here. I took t' time to
carefully sand t' balsa wood fin edges. T' square die cut edge just wouldn't
do for a sharp lookin' kit like this. Ahoy! Be sure t' add t' epoxy fillets at the
fin root!
Finishing
After assembly I painted it and applied t' decals t' mirror t' package. Begad! This
rocket looks great just sittin' on t' pad! No real finishin' problems t' note
with this kit. Ya scallywag! T' finished product is a really nice lookin' rocket.

Flight
First flight be single stage with an A8-3. Avast, me proud beauty! Begad! Arrow straight boost, shiver me timbers, a beautiful
flight. Well, blow me down! Avast, me hearties, me proud beauty! T' supplied streamer recovery system deployed fine but allows for a
bit too speedy descent. At impact one o' t' fins popped loose at t' epoxy
fillet. Blimey! I repaired that and replaced t' streamers with a small 12"
parachute. Avast!
Next flight was two stages with B6-0 and B6-7. Blimey! Blimey! T' flight be again arrow straight and a thin' o' beauty and t' small chute worked perfectly. Begad! Blimey! No broken fins. Avast! Blimey!
T' first three stage flight be an eye opener. Ahoy! Ahoy! Tryin' t' keep track o' all the parts once you hit t' go button is a challenge. Ahoy! All I can say is bring spotters with you for this one. All three stages worked great and t' altitude performance o' this small rocket is a real crowd pleaser. Save this one for big fields and calm days or plan on a long walk. Begad! I am workin' on a high altitude rocket for me level one certification but this little rocket will remain my favorite for a long time t' come.
Recovery
Addin' t' small parachute will greatly reduce t' number o' broken fins you
repair on this one. But be aware that with t' altitude performance o' this
rocket and its light weight be cautious t' fly it on low wind days.

Summary
Super kit, beautiful finish, shiver me timbers, defines t' term "Flies like a rocket"

(by Doyle Tatum) I built this model per instructions with the following exceptions and comments: Steps 1-3 Tied a piece of Kevlar ® to the motor tube and cut it long enough to reach the top of the body tube (placed a swivel on the end) Steps 4-7 no changes Steps 8-11 Used Estes fin alignment tool (EST 2227). When I build another I will use a CA glue to attach the fins and then ...
