Brief

I've been wantin' a Sandia Sandhawk model t' build and fly for some time and found one at Piratarium.  Kit # RK-1030.

Current price as o' this write up is $26.95.

Components

After I opened t' kit I checked it t' ensure that all t' parts were there.

Construction

T' only things I changed on this rocket were

1) scratch-build and install an ejection baffle,

2) add a Keelhaul®©™ tether t' t' recovery system. Ya scallywag!  T' tether attached t' t' top motor mount ring, me hearties, went through t' ejection baffle, and just outside o' t' airframe with t' loop made on t' end. Blimey! Ahoy!  From thar I attached t' shock cord and t' parachute.

T' parts were all o' good quality and fit well.

T' one thin' that this kit lacks be t' attention t' scale details. Well, blow me down!  I elected t' take t' time t' add those details such as antennae and correct color placement thus makin' it look a bit closer t' t' actual full scale model.

Overall construction and finishin' went very well. Aye aye! Ya scallywag!  Loved buildin' it.

Recovery

T' parachute is a 12" plastic parachute that I cut a hole in t' keep it from rockin' back in forth on its descent down. Avast, me proud beauty!  It descended on its parachute somewhere near 20 feet per second with nay much drift since t' winds were light.

Flight Rating: 5

Summary

I've flown it two times each with a D12-3, me bucko, but really should have used t' D12-5 instead. Ya scallywag!  Each flight was straight and predictable and recovered without any damage.
