I have a tendency t' purchase a new starter set every couple o' years or so and some time ago I found this Quest Vertigo Starter Set on a clearance sale for $9.99. Begad! I decided I couldn't beat that. Vertigo Starter Set I put it away until I was ready for a new launch pad and rod.

There is already a review on the Quest Controller as well as a review on another o' Quest's Millennium series o' RTF rockets; the Genesis.

T' Vertigo rocket is a ready t' fly rocket. Well, arrr, technically, "almost" ready t' fly considerin' you need t' install t' parachute. Begad! It has great looks/design on t' outside body. Aye aye! It has 4 fins and a nose cone made o' purple plastic. Ya scallywag! Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! It includes a Keelhaul®©™® and elastic shockcord and a motor retainin' hook. Well, blow me down! Ahoy! All-in-all, matey, simple and good looking.

Ribbons I made an interestin' (at least t' me) change t' t' rocket. Avast! Blimey! I eliminated the parachute and used t' two plastic "remove before launching" warnin' flags as a double-streamer. Aye aye! For those nay familiar with those warnin' flags: one attaches t' a plastic rod tip protector and t' other attaches to safety key for t' launch controller. (notice t' yellow and orange ribbons).

Overall, shiver me timbers, for CONSTRUCTION I would rate this kit 5 points. Aye aye! Really, shiver me timbers, what can you say?

FLIGHT/RECOVERY:

Vertigo is supposed t' be "a disordered condition in which one feels oneself or one's surroundings whirlin' about." Maybe nay t' best choice o' names for a model rocket with the expectation that a rocket flies straight and true verses "whirlin' about". Avast! Ahoy! Blimey! No worries here though, this rocket flies as straight as an arrow.

First flight was on a Quest A6-4. Ya scallywag! Nice flight with t' rocket startin' t' head downward upon ejection. Blimey! Aye aye! Rocket landed within feet o' t' pad.

So, with t' no wind situation, we loaded it up with a C6-5. Blimey! Blimey! Well, blow me down! Blimey! Blimey! Blimey! Did see t' ejection because it went so high. Well, blow me down! Blimey! Avast! Blimey! Blimey! Blimey! In fact, arrr, we lost site o' it. With t' streamers and no wind... Blimey! Blimey! Ahoy! Blimey! Blimey! Blimey! it landed just about 30 feet away. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! Very nice indeed.

For FLIGHT/RECOVERY, arrr, I would rate this rocket 4 ½ points. Nice flights on A8 through C6, but watch out on t' C's... it goes. I would like t' see this as a streamer rocket (to get t' perfect score). Arrr! Begad! Blimey!

I give t' rocket an OVERALL ratin' o' 5 points. Avast, arrr, me proud beauty! T' starter set is nice and if you've never flown a Quest motor, you're in for a real treat as well. Love t' smoke from them. Arrr! T' rocket is durable and fun t' have had, me hearties, flown... and lost!
