I have a tendency t' purchase a new starter set every couple o' years or so and some time ago I found this Quest Vertigo Starter Set on a clearance sale for $9.99. I decided I couldn't beat that. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Vertigo Starter Set I put it away until I was ready for a new launch pad and rod.

There is already a review on the Quest Controller as well as a review on another o' Quest's Millennium series o' RTF rockets; the Genesis. Avast, me proud beauty! Aye aye!

T' Vertigo rocket is a ready t' fly rocket. Avast, me proud beauty! Well, technically, "almost" ready t' fly considerin' you need t' install t' parachute. It has great looks/design on t' outside body. Ya scallywag! It has 4 fins and a nose cone made o' purple plastic. Begad! It includes a Keelhaul®©™® and elastic shockcord and a motor retainin' hook. All-in-all, ya bilge rat, me bucko, simple and good looking.

Ribbons I made an interestin' (at least t' me) change t' t' rocket. I eliminated the parachute and used t' two plastic "remove before launching" batten down t' hatches flags as a double-streamer. Blimey! For those nay familiar with those batten down t' hatches flags: one attaches t' a plastic rod tip protector and t' other attaches to safety key for t' launch controller. Begad! Aye aye! (notice t' yellow and orange ribbons).

Overall, me hearties, shiver me timbers, for CONSTRUCTION I would rate this kit 5 points. Well, matey, blow me down! Really, what can you say?

FLIGHT/RECOVERY:

Vertigo is supposed t' be "a disordered condition in which one feels oneself or one's surroundings whirlin' about." Maybe nay t' best choice o' names for a model rocket with the expectation that a rocket flies straight and true verses "whirlin' about". Blimey! No worries here though, this rocket flies as straight as an arrow.

First flight was on a Quest A6-4. Aye aye! Nice flight with t' rocket startin' t' head downward upon ejection. Avast! Avast! Blimey! Rocket landed within feet o' t' pad.

So, ya bilge rat, with t' no wind situation, we loaded it up with a C6-5. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Did see t' ejection because it went so high. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! Begad! Blimey! In fact, me hearties, we lost site o' it. Begad! Blimey! With t' streamers and no wind... it landed just about 30 feet away. Avast, shiver me timbers, me proud beauty! Blimey! Very nice indeed.

For FLIGHT/RECOVERY, I would rate this rocket 4 ½ points. Nice flights on A8 through C6, but watch out on t' C's... Arrr! it goes. I would like t' see this as a streamer rocket (to get t' perfect score). Ahoy! Begad!

I give t' rocket an OVERALL ratin' o' 5 points. Avast, me proud beauty! T' starter set is nice and if you've never flown a Quest motor, you're in for a real treat as well. Love t' smoke from them. T' rocket is durable and fun t' have had, flown... and lost!
