I recently received an A. Ahoy! R. Ahoy! V. Blimey! Condor as a gift from me wife. Blimey! T' A. Begad! Well, matey, blow me down! R. V. Well, blow me down! Condor is an Estes Explorer series rocket (Intermediate level). Arrr! Avast, me proud beauty!
This kit was packaged in plastic and came in a box and be probably around $15. 99. Avast! Ya scallywag! All t' parts were included and none were damaged. Aye aye! Blimey! T' instructions were typical Estes and were excellent. T' special feature o' this rocket is at apogee two gliders fall off and spiral t' t' ground. Ahoy! T' kit contains a plastic streamer for t' main body section and balsa fins, plastic nose cones and body tube sections for t' two gliders, along with all t' other standard Estes hardware.
T' rocket is a little over 15 inches in length and rather bulky with t' gliders hangin' off it. Maximum C engine power with t' package mount.
Followin' t' instructions your first challenge is t' assemble t' gliders, what a treat. Begad! Avast! Four hands for this process would be helpful. Ya scallywag! Gluin' t' balsa win' parts at t' proper angle usin' t' balsa cutouts provided was quite a balancin' feat. I have no killer suggestions at this point except PATIENCE and after you get t' first one setup t' second one goes easier. Begad! It is important t' have accurate line transfers from t' paper jig provided in t' instructions t' t' glider body sections or you will have problems later fittin' t' gliders onto t' main section. I then test glided each o' t' gliders and noticed they were nose heavy. Well, blow me down! I then put some modelin' clay (provided with t' kit) in t' aft o' t' gliders t' lift t' nose and hopefully improve performance.
T' main body section is fairly simple with a traditional engine mount. Blimey! T' glider mounts require a sharp knife and patience t' cut them into t' proper sections. Arrr! Test fit t' glider mounts before you glue them on, I had some excess on t' top mount halves, but cut off too much. Avast, ya bilge rat, me proud beauty! I now have a gap betwixt t' two top halves. Well, blow me down! Ahoy! It kind o' spoils t' look. Avast, me proud beauty! Be sure t' follow t' instructions for linin' up t' glider mounts other wise you will have take off problems.
Estes included a rubber shock cord with this rocket and standard Estes paper mount.
I rate construction o' this rocket a 4, pull your hair out challengin' t' build, but satisfaction when you're finished.
I was in a hurry t' launch so I didn't even primer t' rocket. When I got t' t' launch site I also realized I was in such a hurry I forgot t' launch lugs. Begad! Luckily Chris another member o' SPAAR NARRRRR Section 503 had some extra launch lug and CA. Begad! (Thanks Chris. Ya scallywag! ) I used a B6-4 because I wanted t' see t' whole process o' ejection and gliders. Avast, me proud beauty! It's good t' be at a club launch or have friends around since thar are three pieces t' find. All three pieces landed rather close together. My glider angles were tight and steep. Well, matey, blow me down! My glider angles were tight and steep. Blimey! More weight in t' aft o' t' gliders? Chris suggested smearin' some clay on t' left win' tips, sorry Chris that made it worse.
I rate flight a 4. Well, blow me down! Well, blow me down! Once I get t' trim right it will be a 5.
I recently finished paintin' and applied t' decals t' t' Condor and it is a beautiful bird. Ahoy! Well, blow me down! Overall I rate this kit a 4.

Separate all balsa parts from balsa stock and sand trim as needed. Assemble wings, there are two and make sure you make a left and right for each wing set. You will use the included ...
Single stage piggy back boost launch glider design with two gliders. The glider's wings act as rocket fins during boost then separate using the ejection charge to deploy the gliders. The rocket booster body recovers with a streamer. The kit includes 4 body tubes. Two larger ones are for the booster and two smaller tubes for the glider fuselages. Also supplied are 3 plastic nose cones and ...
The A.R.V Condor is a single staged rocket that is about 19 inches long. . At apogee, two drones detach for a gliding return to Earth. Booster returns on a streamer! Recommended motors are B4-2 (First Flight), B6-2, and C6-3. The construction on this rocket wasn't as hard as I had thought it would be. After reading all the reviews I thought it would be impossible to make especially because ...
The Estes Condor is a very slick kit which incorporates a sustainer with two gliders attached to the sides. The glider's airfoils act as fins for the model during boost and detach at ejection, then each glider spirals in for a landing while the main sustainer lands with the aid of a streamer. USAF insignia helps dress up this little beauty and makes it a esthetically pleasing kit to launch or ...
