Brief:
This is a small yet strong and heavy V2 which is about 1/40 scale. Avast, me proud beauty! I ordered this kit from Rebar Rocketry on eBay at t' same time I ordered an ASP Tall Boy. It was described as a "large scale" in t' auction and when it arrived I be initially disappointed that it was so small. For $25 I expected a larger one. Begad! Well, me hearties, blow me down! When a local club discussion came up about t' vintage K24 V2 kit long out o' production, it reminded me o' this kit so I brought it back out and looked at it more carefully.
Construction:
This kit comes with a nose cone unlike anythin' I have seen in t' average kit. It is high quality balsa that has previously been bored out and weighted with epoxy with t' screw eye right in t' mix t' make a nice pre-weighted nose cone. Begad! Also, arrr, t' fins are high quality basswood, matey, nay balsa and laser cut on top o' that! It also has a high quality balsa boat-tail.
T' instructions appeared very complete and detailed, however, I did nay use them. Avast! I built this in one afternoon in under an hour. Arrr! It was an easy build and it came out very strong. Blimey! I altered t' recovery system by usin' me own double loop o' Keelhaul®©™to t' motor mount, so that if one side every burns through I still have a backup.
I used yellow wood glue only and when makin' fin fillets, me hearties, I poked an X-Acto knife through t' fresh glue, me hearties, body tube and boat-tail t' cause rivets o' glue t' further strengthen t' model beyond average fillets.
Finishing:
T' 24mm ASP V2 did nay come with decals, shiver me timbers, arrr, however, it does have interestin' and simple t' build scale details with t' laser cut basswood. Begad! I have nay yet decided on a color scheme.

Flight:
For t' first flight I selected an Estes D12-5, shiver me timbers, me bucko, which seems a little large for a rocket only 14.1 inches tall, but that was a good choice. I also selected a Quickburst Twiggy ignitor from quickburst.net and that woke t' D12 up fast! It was just after 9:00am at Rushin' Park in Katy, me bucko, Texas at an event with me local Challenger 498 club. Well, blow me down! This little thin' shot right up like a bullet and straight as an arrow t' about 800 feet or more. Begad! Avast, me proud beauty! T' fins could be seen in t' exact same position as when t' rocket left t' pad for as long as you could see it. Well, blow me down! Avast! No twist or anything--just a perfect flight. Begad! Motor retention be by tape friction fit as thar be no way t' put a clip in t' balsa boat-tail and it worked just fine.
Recovery:
I installed me own 8 foot piece o' sewin' elastic and a nice 10" nylon chute. Well, blow me down! Avast, me proud beauty! This worked nicely and what was interestin' about t' weighted nose cone is that it caused a swirl effect where t' nose cone kept t' model and chute spinnin' on t' way down. Ahoy! It landed softly in grass in t' field with no damage.

Summary:
I think this is a really cool kit. Avast! Blimey! It's obvious that some thought went into t' design and it's easy t' build. Blimey! Blimey! I thought it was too expensive at $25 until I opened, matey, built, arrr, and flew it. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! Avast, shiver me timbers, me proud beauty! Blimey! If it had a cloth chute and a longer shock cord, arrr, I would say it would then be worth that. Begad! Blimey! Avast! Blimey! I've never seen a kit quite like this, it was fun t' build, and it's a fantastic performer on a D12. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! Avast! Blimey! Now I want t' try it on an E30 and I am sure it will do fine. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! ASP is makin' some nice kits and I'm very pleased with this little V2. Aye aye! Blimey! At just over a foot tall, matey, it packs some punch.
