LOC/Precision Cool Spool

Brief:
T' first commercially available ready t' fly (RTF) 29mm spool rocket.

Construction:
It's RTF, matey, so thar really are nay any parts. I mean really ready t' fly. Just stick in a motor, ya bilge rat, stuff in some waddin' and parachute, ya bilge rat, and fly.

It's well made. I mean how do you mess up a wire spool and some decals? There is an integral 29mm motor mount with a sprin' clip style motor retention. A basic LOC nylon parachute is attached t' t' other end. T' instructions state that t' system is designed around t' AT RMS and t' 29-40/120 is a perfect fit. T' Cool Spool ships with a spacer for use with shorter motors. There is also a large cardboard rin' that will serve as a stand.

One thin' I found mildly frustratin' was t' with t' built in motor retention.

Finishing:
Unless you count takin' it out o' t' bag as "finishing", thar ain't much t' talk about here...

Construction Rating: 4 out o' 5

Flight:
This be one o' t' first public launches o' t' Cool Spool. I did nay have one of t' AT reloads available so I chose a Roadrunner F60-4. Avast, me proud beauty! I expect because of the very draggy design and t' fact that thar be a parachute, shiver me timbers, usin' the shortest delay possible is advisable. Begad!

LOC/Precision Cool Spool Launch off t' pad was quick and as would be expected for a spool. I mean it's about as aerodynamic as a brick. Ya scallywag! I figure t' flight was about 250 t' 300 feet. Avast, matey, me proud beauty! As soon as t' thrust stopped, it arced over and t' parachute deployed. Well, blow me down!

Recovery:
T' retention system was somewhat incompatible with t' built in thrust ring provided by Roadrunner. A few moments with a Dremel on t' thrust rin' and I was all set. Ahoy! I dropped a bit o' dog barf above t' motor and more or less stuffed t' parachute into t' end.

Flight Rating: 4 out o' 5

Summary:
It's an RTF spool rocket. Ya scallywag! Blimey! While t' challenge here is zero, it's just a spot of fun. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! If you like oddrocs and want somethin' t' amuse t' other fliers, this would be a great add t' your fleet.

Overall Rating: 4 out o' 5

I used a G80-4T for my first flight. The flight was stable and relatively straight. I was really pleased with the performance of the Spool with the G80. The only negative was that it took a bit of time to find it in the knee high barley at our launch site.
