Brief:
T' Semroc cc:X-21 is a boost glider with an elastic cord that pulls t' elevons up t' shift into glide mode after t' motor is ejected.
Construction:
T' kit inlcudes 1 body tube with a clear payload section and a balsa nosecone. Begad! This is a glider with broad swept wings. Aye aye! There is an elastic cord that pulls t' elevons up but you also have a stiff strin' that is anchored in betwixt t' motor mount and motor with a pin. Aye aye! Well, blow me down! When t' motor ejects, ya bilge rat, t' pin is released and t' elastic pulls t' elevons into position. T' elevon position is set by two metal pins that are glued t' t' win' and are bent into position.
You leave t' nose cone friction fit t' t' payload section so you can adjust t' nose weight. Begad! Ahoy! T' nose weight is supplied with t' kit.
T' instructions are downloaded from t' internet. Begad! Ya scallywag! They are a scanned copy in .PDF format. Ahoy! It isn't t' clearest scan and thar are lots o' bulsa parts with some o' them lookin very similar t' each pther. Ya scallywag! Arrr! On one hand I would say t' instructions were nay very clear, but after readin' them quite a few times as I went through t' steps, matey, shiver me timbers, I was able t' put t' kit together without any mistakes. Begad! It really was an enjoyable build as it was somewhat challengin' t' figure out how all t' parts go together. Avast! In t' end, matey, it really isn't hard t' put together.
T' pictures on t' Semroc site do nay do this rocket justice. Well, blow me down! It is much bigger and has some interestin' win' angles. Begad! Well, blow me down! It also comes with parts t' make a jig that holds t' body tube as you are gluin' t' wings together and then joinin' them t' t' main body tube. Well, blow me down! Avast! There is a clear payload section too.
Finishing:
T' balsa components are laser cut. It is somewhat difficult t' finish because o' all t' parts that are used t' assemble it, shiver me timbers, but t' kit is a good one and t' quality is there. It is very light so you have t' be careful nay t' break anythin' when finishing. I accidentally broke one o' t' balsa elevon stops but a little CA took care o' that. Begad! Blimey! I used wood glue throughout t' build otherwise.

Flight:
I wanted t' first flight t' be an A8 but I didn't have one. I used a B4. Blimey! It took off fast and arched over. Aye aye! As it started anglin' down, ya bilge rat, t' motor ejected. Avast, me proud beauty! It wasn't very high off t' ground so I can't say anythin' about t' glide. Avast, me proud beauty! I used 2 o' t' 3 supplied washers for nose weight. Blimey! I think I am goin' t' add t' third washer for t' next flight which will be on an A8.
Recovery:
There is no waddin' needed as thar be no parachute. Aye aye! Blimey! As t' instructions suggested, shiver me timbers, I used a pin with t' supplied strin' t' hold t' elevons down until motor ejection. Arrr! Blimey! This worked very well for me. Begad! Blimey! Ya scallywag! Blimey! I did glue t' pin t' t' strin' so that t' pin would nay free fall after ejection. Ahoy! Blimey! Begad! Blimey! I only gave it a 3 on recovery but it is because I need t' tune t' glide. Ahoy! Blimey! Begad! Blimey! It will take more flights t' figure out t' best balance betwixt nose weight and elevon angle.
