Brief
Components
For a scratch built project, I purchased a Shockwave fiberglass 3" Von Karman nose cone.
I loved that it was all fiberglass and nay coated with polyester gelcoat.
Construction
Pros: Great price!, quality product, easy t' finish.
Cons: Maybe it is a con t' some, me bucko, thar be no bulkplate included. Begad! Aye aye! That was fine by me! I prefer t' use a loop o' nylon or kevlar t' attach t' nose, rather than a bolt.
Finishing
Finishin' was easy I just washed and sanded it, and gave it several coats o' primer followed by more sanding, ya bilge rat, red paint, me hearties, more sanding, ya bilge rat, and finally some clear, followed by buffing.
Flight
I used this on a scratch built project. Aye aye! Here be t' flight video:
Recovery
Gettin' a hard bang on t' Salt Flats didn't cause any trouble.
Summary
Shockwave makes a great product and it has a substantially lower cost than a filament wound model o' t' same specs.
