I recently bought a Estes Viking. The Vikin' is an Estes Beta (Beginner) series rocket. Arrr!
This kit was packaged in plastic with a cardboard picture o' t' rocket. The price be very right, ya bilge rat, ya bilge rat, me bucko, $6.95. Ya scallywag! All t' parts were included and none were damaged. T' instructions were typical Estes. Blimey! Arrr! T' instructions were typical Estes. Avast! Aye aye! The special feature o' this rocket is that thar are 48 possible fin configurations. T' kit contains a plastic nose cone, me bucko, body section, streamer, die-cut card fins and a motor retention ring.. Begad!
T' rocket is a little over 12 inches in length. Avast! Maximum C engine power. Arrr!
An experienced modeler will have no problem at all with this kit. Begad! Aye aye! T' only variable is how many fins and what configuration. Begad! Avast! I went with the design on t' package since I've never built a five fin rocket. Arrr! Ahoy!
I rate construction o' this rocket a 4, no major design deficiencies or obstacles. Aye aye!
I primed t' rocket and painted it just like t' package. Begad! I love this little rocket because it be t' best paint and decal job I've ever done. Begad! Avast, me proud beauty! It looks exactly like t' package. Aye aye!
My first Vikin' launch was at me club, SPAAR NARRRRR Section 503. Blimey! Arrr! I used an A8-3 because I didn't want t' lose it. Well, me bucko, blow me down! I used an A8-3 because I didn't want t' lose it. Ahoy! Begad! Perfect flight and recovery. Begad! Later on a B6-4 Later on a B6-4 I lost it in t' clouds but it was recovered. This thin' would scream on a C. Aye aye! This thin' would scream on a C. This is one o' me favorite rockets, arrr, very reliable.
I rate flight a 5. Sometimes I like them out-of-sight!! Blimey!

Brief Very small, easy to lose, hard to see because it goes so high, but has a lot of building options. Construction Very cheap. Easy to construct, for the most part. All the parts were there in the package. There are 48 different fin arrangement possibilities, which I thought was very cool (I used the four fin forward-swept arrangement). The only special tool needed is a placement ...
