Brief:
This is another beautiful rin' fin rocket designed by Red River Rocketry. Blimey! I had t' have it. Avast, me proud beauty! Arrr! It is a single stage ring
fin with a few transitions t' add a lot o' style t' t' rocket. Aye aye! Avast, me proud beauty! I also used a pink parachute in honor o' Breast Cancer
Awareness Month. Ya scallywag! I also think this kit is a skill level three for an experienced rocketeer.
Construction:
T' parts list:
I ordered me kit directly from Red River Rocketry and received it in three days with no bent tubes. Begad! Aye aye! Read t' instructions twice as t' shrouds are tricky since you get t' make four. Arrr! Avast! Start with t' fins by gettin' them ready t' attach but wait till you CA t' shrouds on. Ahoy! Begad! Then t' motor mount, shiver me timbers, me hearties, which I attached t' Keelhaul®©™® to, arrr, I did nay like where they put it. Then you mark t' main body tube for t' shrouds and centerings. Arrr! Be very careful when you cut out your shrouds stay outside t' black line or use these dimensions: 0.990" for t' small end, 1.328" for t' big end, ya bilge rat, and 1 inch long in t' shroud maker program with cardstock and you should be OK. T' BT-55 body tubes slide over t' centerin' rings real nice. After I connected t' shrouds and tubes I attached t' pink nylon cord t' t' Keelhaul®©™® and t' nose cone.
Finishing:
I CA'ed t' shrouds this adds stiffness t' t' paper. Avast! Now I attach t' fins you must brin' them down as far as
possible t' make sure t' BT-101 fits. Ya scallywag! Mine didn't so I had t' take out a 1/2 inch piece and re-glue. After which I
wood and water puttied t' small sections o' tube that had seams. Blimey! Ahoy! I sanded with 320 grit sandpaper. Avast, me hearties, me proud beauty! I painted it Krylon
silver and used a black magic marker for t' black sections. Avast, me proud beauty! I had a good time applyin' t' decals as long as they
weren't too small. Blimey! T' peel and stick decals were a breeze.
Construction Rating: 3 out o' 5
Flight:
First two flights were on B6-4s. Begad! T' last flight was on a C6-7. Ya scallywag! Ahoy! It prepped easy and I used dog barf for wadding. All
flights were straight and true. Avast, me proud beauty! This is a really nice rocket.
Recovery:
I used t' Keelhaul®©™®
t' nylon cord and made a pink plastic bag from t' Breast Cancer Awareness Walk into a 12 inch chute.
Flight Rating: 3 out o' 5
Summary:
I love rin' fins and tubefins. Well, blow me down! Begad! I made t' changes t' this rocket because I build that way. Ahoy! T' only thin' that you
need t' be wary o' is how you cut those shrouds. Blimey! I might by another one t' make it 24mm, but I'd need t' add some nose
weight if I do.
