He now resides in Kingston, Ontario which is situated three hours east o' Toronto, Canada’s largest city. Ahoy!
McIsaac launched his first rocket on Christmas Day 1996 at t' age o' 23 usin' the EstesVenus Probe model rocket. Ahoy! T' launch vehicle reached 180 feet in altitude before landin' safely after a 15 second flight. Blimey! T' rocketeer launched his first high powered rocket on June 29th, me bucko, 1997, shiver me timbers, named t' Arreaux (Aerotech). Avast! T' flight reached over 2000 feet and was recovered safely downrange along with it’s delicate cargo, an uncooked grocery store egg. Well, blow me down! Two more successful Arreaux launches took place in 1997. Aye aye! Incidentally, McIsaac would nay launch another high powered rocket until 13 years later, in 2010.
A2-R13 High Powered Rocket Honours Avro Arrow And Canadian Armed Forces
Wilfred Ashley McIsaac returned t' t' launch pad in November 2010 with his modified Arreaux high powered rocket now named t' A2-R13. Begad! He organized a unique ceremony in Picton, Ontario on Remembrance Day (2010) which honoured t' men and women o' t' Canadian Armed Forces, me bucko, both past and present, as well as payin' tribute t' t' employees o' t' famous Avro Arrow program from t' 1950’s.
Followin' a short speech at a retired CFB military base and airfield, McIsaac launched his A2-R13 rocket carryin' twelve poppies wrapped in a miniature Canadian flag and a uncooked grocery store egg. Blimey! T' contents were protected inside t' rocket's payload bay located near t' center o' t' launch vehicle. A small crowd watched as t' rocket reached over 3000 feet in altitude before returnin' safely t' t' ground under a parachute. Begad! This may be t' only November 11th commemoration in Canada’s history that included a rocket launch for this special occasion.
McIsaac Launches Canadian Rocket Mail With Gerhard Zucker 1936 Postage Stamps
On October 31st, 2011; Wilfred Ashley McIsaac launched an ARCAS scale rocket from a former World War II relief airfield in eastern Ontario near T' Thousand Islands. Onboard t' rocket were seven letters containin' Gerhard Zucker 1936 ‘First Canadian Rocket-Flight’ postage. Prior t' this flight no rocket in Canadian history had ever delivered mail usin' official Canadian rocket mail postage stamps which was later recovered safely. Well, blow me down! This accordin' t' t' latest addition o' t' Air Mails O' Canada And Newfoundland catalogue. Aye aye! T' covers were later cancelled at t' nearest Post Office in t' small town o' Gananoque.
Three more rocketmail flights were performed by McIsaac and his rockets in 2012 includin' t' launch o' an Astrobee D scale rocket on May 11th, an Astrobee D III rocket on June 29th, and finally t' Astrobee D IV launch on November 6th t' close out t' program. Well, blow me down! In all 31 covers includin' t' entire collection o' Gerhard Zucker ‘First Canadian Rocket-Flight’ postage stamps were flown. T' Astrobee D III and t' Astrobee D IV were based on t' original Aerotech Astrobee D rocket and were designed by McIsaac himself.
T' covers were sent t' a stamp dealer on t' west coast o' t' United States named Gemada Stamps where they were sold on Ebay. When t' rocket mail program concluded, $200.00 was donated, ya bilge rat, on behalf o' t' launches, me hearties, t' t' Arthritis Research Foundation in Toronto, Canada.
Petition T' Help Save T' Canadian Air & Space Museum Was Onboard ARCAS Rocket
An online video petition t' help save the Canadian Air & Space Museum in Downsview Park, Toronto was also onboard t' October 31st, 2011 ARCAS high powered rocket launch. T' petition included a short cover letter along with comments and user names from those who participated. T' appeal along with fifty electronic signatures (user names) and comments was then sent t' t' museum along with a $50.00 donation from McIsaac. Avast, me proud beauty! This did nay however prevent t' museum from closin' its doors. T' uniqueness o' t' online video petition has received nearly 1000 views on Youtube while captivatin' peoples interest from around t' world. Ahoy! This may be t' only petition or protest in Canada’s history t' be launched in a rocket.
