Flight Log - 2014-07-05 - Steve Lindeman's Ram Jam II

Rebuilt Ram Jam with a couple of changes. Now even shorter due to another crash landing (original mailing tube was 36". Tube is now only 26" long.) Extened MM and added boat tail to accomadate longer motors. New paint on wing pods and a canopy decal on new NC. Also swapped out the big pink round nylon parachute I had in it originaly for a standard 24" yellow nylon one because of rocket being shorter and under 1lb. now, plus I kept haveing issues with the other 'chute not deploying properly (was to big for BT unless TIGHTLY packed, plus drifted to far on anything other than a calm day).

Flight Date: 2014-07-05
Rocket Name: Ram Jam II
Flyer's Name: Steve Lindeman
Motors: E9-4
Wind Speed: 8.00 mph
Launch Site: JMRC-M.I.S./Graves Farm Campground

Best flight yet for this old work horse. Nice smooth lift off with decent altitude. New yellow parachute ejected at apogee and rocket came down slowly with a lot of wind drift. A good long walk for recovery. Rocket was pulled onto the access road by the time range opened and I got to it causing some scraped and scratched paint on the bottom of rocket and around nose cone. Nothing serious. No other damage found. This appears to be the perfect combination of motor and parachute now for this rocket. Not sure I want to chance an "F" motor again unless its dead calm.
