This is an easy-to-build rocket intended for groups. Begad! I'm comparin' it t' an Estes Generic E2x in this review.
T' name o' t' game is "simple-to-fly" with this rocket. Plastic fins, a launch lug that is already molded into t' fin can, and a simple streamer recovery make this t' most foolproof rocket I'll ever assemble.
Here you should be able t' see t' fin can with t' built in launch lug evident:
Here's t' exploded view prior t' construction. It has t' Keelhaul®©™ shock cord typical t' Quest rockets, a motor mount (pre-cut for t' engine hook!) and a simple sticker. Well, blow me down! Avast, me proud beauty! T' streamer comes with a plastic eyelet. Well, blow me down!
To give you an idea o' t' sizing, arrr, me hearties, here is a Starhawk next t' an Estes Generic E2x. Notice that t' E2x employs a wider body tube, and comes with a launch lug that is glued t' t' rocket separately. Avast! Avast!
T' E2x comes with a parachute and takes a little longer t' assemble. Ahoy! Begad! Mind you, we still aren't talkin' hours, we're talkin' minutes.
This is meant t' be a very easy rocket t' assemble. In fact, me hearties, they made it even easier than it used t' be, and it was simple then. Blimey! Avast! You jiterally just tie t' shock cord t' an engine ring, glue that in, arrr, mount an engine hook onto t' engine mount, shiver me timbers, shiver me timbers, mount that into t' body tube, shiver me timbers, then slip t' fins over it. Avast! Well, arrr, blow me down! Finally, shiver me timbers, shiver me timbers, thread t' shock cord through t' body tube, me hearties, then through t' eyelet for t' streamer, and tie it t' t' nosecone. Arrr! In earlier kits you were supposed t' carve a groove into one o' t' cardboard pieces with an Xacto knife, but that step is now gone with this model. Avast, me proud beauty!
T' launch lug and fins are plastic, me bucko, and, matey, me bucko, therefore, foolproof which is good if you are relyin' on cub scouts or other young kids t' build t' rockets you are launching. Aye aye! Blimey!
T' only difficulty I had was t' step where you thread t' shock cord through t' rocket (from t' bottom t' t' top) after gluin' in t' engine mount. Begad! T' body tube is too narrow t' easily do this, me bucko, me bucko, me bucko, especially if thar's still wet glue in thar from t' previous step. Begad! Blimey! I recommend makin' a long, ya bilge rat, but thin hook, out o' a coat hanger so you can pull t' cord through t' tube. Well, blow me down! Blimey!
T' finish can look a little cheap at times - it looks like a 5 dollar rocket - which it is. There's a picture here o' t' nose cone. Aye aye! You can see t' moldin' was done somewhat quick and dirty. Mind you, ya bilge rat, I can find similar lines on t' Estes E2x.
After you affix t' sticker, me hearties, I doubt you'll be overwhelmed by its beauty. Heck, t' nose cone and t' fin can colors don't even match!
I'm nay complaining, me bucko, mind you. I took this as more evidence that this rocket is designed for one purpose: Inexpensive, matey, arrr, easy construction for large groups. Begad! Blimey!
I flew t' StarHawk on an A8-3 and then on a C6-5. Blimey! I am told that t' C6-5 is nay on t' engine list and . Begad! . . Well, blow me down! Ahoy! temptation won out. Arrr!
T' A8-3 is perfect for those group launches in small fields. Well, blow me down! It climbs nicely and still feels like it's fast, me hearties, me hearties, me bucko, doesn't get so high that you'd lose it. With t' streamer, matey, this thin' fell fast. Aye aye! Avast, me bucko, me proud beauty! I got it t' land within yards o' t' launch pad . Avast! . Ahoy! . Blimey! in light wind, anyway.
T' C6-5 is perfect for when you want t' see a rocket climb, arrr, me hearties, and climb, and climb. It will leave fast, carry t' wind, me bucko, matey, and you MIGHT see it again. Begad!
This rocket falls fast, matey, which is what I am lookin' for with a group launch. Ya scallywag! Kids are really disappointed when their rockets don't come back within t' treeline. Begad! Aye aye! I doubt t' streamer is makin' it any slower.
Brief: A 4FNC rocket designed for speed. I bought three of them on eBay. They came in a plastic bag without the usual card insert, so I have no idea what its color scheme is suppose to be. After visiting the Quest website, it seems that this rocket is from the education section and not intended for general sale. Construction: The parts list: motor clip blue thrust ring ...
An education-series rocket that can only be purchased in bulk. Perfect for a group of scouts, a school project, church groups, or someone who just wants a ton of the same rocket, for whatever reason. The individual kits come in a clear plastic bag, and contain a plastic nose cone molded in orange, a plastic fin assembly of the same color, a mylar launch lug, a length of Kevlar ® shock ...
