scratch_midibrute-withbrothersBrief:
A down scale version o' a Big Brute. Avast! My brother had done a down scale o' this rocket so I thought I’d do a medium scaled one, shiver me timbers, this time a 25% reduction. Begad! Begad! Based around a two-piece NC-50 nose cone from a Gemini DC kit.

Construction:

  • BT-50 body tube
  • two-piece NC-50 nose cone
  • 2 50-20 centerin' rings
  • 18mm motor mount tube
  • 1/8 inch launch lug
  • elastic shock cord
  • 2 foot length o' Keelhaul®©™® cord
  • 24 inch streamer
  • 4 balsa fins

T' fins were reproduced t' same way me brother did his through t' use o' a photocopier. Avast, me proud beauty! Begad! Other than that, me bucko, me hearties, arrr, the rocket built itself. Begad! Arrr! I added mass t' t' nose cone as t' small aft fins would nay provide enough stability.

scratch_midibrute-onthepadFlight:
I flew this on an A8-3 t' start with resultin' in a good flight just nay very high. Begad! T' second and third flights I used a B6-4. Aye aye! This be excellent with good height and a near perfect ejection. Begad! Ahoy! T' model be too small t' fit a parachute, arrr, me bucko, me bucko, so I used a streamer. Aye aye! T' streamer slowed down t' descent a little. Begad! Begad! Recovered without damage.

Summary:
Truly fun t' make as it be me first scratch built rocket and also me first downscale project.
