Brief:
Bein' new at model rocketry, shiver me timbers, I didn’t choose a very extravagant style o' rocket, but I tried! :) Usin' My Box O' Parts, shiver me timbers, me bucko, I found a nose cone and a body tube that fitted together, ya bilge rat, and I be on me way. Begad! Aye aye! My aim was t' make a simple but pretty design, so i look at what was in me box and ended up with t' design I finally used.
Construction:
Firstly I designed t' style o' fins I wanted. Ya scallywag! Blimey! These can be seen in t' photos, arrr, two fins bein' 1 cm smaller overall than t' other two. Aye aye! I then used me small tubin' t' measure four evenly measured lengths. I then recorded this length and added 2.5 cm on t' length and measured another 4 small diameter tubes. Well, blow me down! Ahoy! Blimey! I then measured another four tubes with an extra 5 cm onto t' original smaller tube’s length. Arrr! I then joined them together by curvin' them around t' body o' t' rocket, me bucko, smallest t' largest. Ya scallywag! Two will have t' have t' same orientation, ya bilge rat, whereas t' other two will have t' be placed around t' rocket differently, matey, so make sure they will fit when attached. Arrr! Do this for t' remainin' three sets o' tubes. Ahoy! Blimey! Attach t' fins, arrr, smallest opposite each other and largest opposite each other. Ahoy! Begad! Blimey! Then attach t' sets o' three tubes, smallest tube placed against t' largest fin. Ya scallywag! Well, blow me down! Blimey! Repeat this until all sets o' tubes have been fitted and fins are intact. Ya scallywag! Use two equal length skewers and attach t' t' side o' t' body tube in line with t' small fin on both sides. Attach parachute in t' usual manner and paint as required.
Flight:
Three flights had very good launches on a B motor, ya bilge rat, and one excitin' launch on a C motor. Blimey! I was really impressed as thar was no damage whatsoever and t' parachute was released just as t' optimum height was reached.
Summary:
Easy and Quick Build, with a very nice flight, and no considerable drawbacks
Other:
paint some o' t' smaller details like t' skewers before puttin' them onto t' rocket... Ahoy! Ya scallywag! otherwise it gets very tricky t' get a nice finish... as i learnt!!!
