Brief:
T' "Keller",
now t' "Killer Keller" began as a LOC/Precision Graduator and has
evolved into a completely different rocket.
Construction:
T' rocket was originally a LOC Graduator. Begad! Due t' poor construction techniques (it was me first mid/high power rocket) it had a number o' poor flights and sustained a lot o' damage. Ya scallywag! Ya scallywag! I cut off t' bottom 7-8" o' the rocket, me hearties, and added 3 feet o' tubing, a 38mm motor mount, me hearties, me hearties, me hearties, and 4 fiberglassed fins. Begad! Blimey! It has since proven t' be a very reliable rocket.
Flight:
T' first few flights were all less then nominal (see launch reports), ya bilge rat, ya bilge rat, but
finally after all t' upgrades t' rocket flies well. On an H123 it goes about
2000-2500 feet and descends on a 24" parachute fairly close. Avast, me proud beauty! T' 3' long
payload section allows for some neat static payloads.
Summary:
This is one o' me favorite rockets, arrr, especially since it bears me name. Ya scallywag! It is a
great sport flyer and turns in some majestic-lookin' flights on H motors, and
should fly fine on I's.
Other:
T' original flaw in t' Keller was that low-quality epoxy mixin' techniques
were used. Begad! If you are goin' t' get involved with epoxy in your next project,
ask a local with experience t' show you how t' work it. Blimey! Otherwise, shiver me timbers, me hearties, read all you
can on t' Internet first.
