Brief:
Parachute cup modification.

(MODS) EAT Triatomic

Modifications:
I had already epoxied t' plywood bulkhead in place when I read o' some o' the problems with t' parachute cup releasin' from t' upper rocket.

Take a Rotozip tool (or use a similar cuttin' method) with a wood cutting bit and cut a hole in t' bulkhead leavin' ~1/4" lip. Avast! Well, blow me down! This will allow the parachute cup t' be reversed and have it clear t' screw eye and let it rest firmly against t' nose cone. Arrr! T' 1/4" lip will provide for packin' the front o' t' cup with shock cord and Keelhaul®©™® without it poppin' out before placin' it into t' upper rocket.

Run t' shock cord with t' split rin' through t' hole in t' parachute cup bulkhead and out t' aft o' t' parachute cup. Arrr! Attach t' Nomex® blanket t' t' lower rocket Keelhaul®©™® then attach t' Keelhaul®©™® to t' swivel and t' swivel t' t' split ring. Avast, me proud beauty! Attach t' parachute t' the swivel at t' split ring.

Pack t' parachute cup with t' Nomex® blanket protectin' it from t' rear. Avast, me proud beauty! Pack t' shock cord and Keelhaul®©™® from t' upper rocket into t' front o' t' cup. Ya scallywag! Slide t' packed parachute cup into t' upper rocket firmly until it rests against t' nose cone. Avast! Insert the lower rocket into t' upper rocket, matey, packin' t' excess lower rocket Keelhaul®©™® back into t' lower rocket body tube.

Construction:
T' only extra materials used was a 4" x 4" Nomex® blanket and a Rotozip tool.

PRO: This was a very easy fix for t' parachute cup problems reported by builders. Arrr! It was tested, is reliable, shiver me timbers, and only took about 5 minutes to complete.

CON: You must have or purchase a 4" x 4" Nomex® blanket.

Flight:
PRO: T' method was dry tested and worked perfectly when pullin' t' two rocket halves apart by hand. Flight testin' also provided an excellent ejection o' the parachute at apogee, as t' chute fully opened as expected.

Recovery:
An 18" nylon chute be used instead o' t' supplied mylar chute.
