This is a dual entry, matey, as t' models are t' result o' interchangin' parts between two common kits. Avast, me proud beauty! Well, blow me down! Kitbash isn't quite t' right word for it, shiver me timbers, me hearties, but I don't have a better one yet. T' resultin' rockets are obviously called t' Fat Bertha and t' Baby Boy. Ahoy! Arrr! I credit or blame t' inspiration for this kitbash on a suggestion from me wife Judy. Ahoy! Ya scallywag!
Construction o' each rocket is pretty simple. I replaced t' Fat Boy tube with a piece o' BT-80 scrap t' same length, arrr, but I probably could have tried to patch over t' pre-cut fin slots. Well, blow me down! Arrr! Blimey! Or alternately, matey, me hearties, build a 3-fined Fat Bertha, but that just wouldn't be right. Ya scallywag! Blimey!
I cut off t' fin tabs from t' Fat Boy fins, as t' Bertha tube isn't slotted, and is a different diameter. Then I simply swapped t' fins on t' two rockets. Well, blow me down! Aye aye! All o' t' internal parts o' each rocket are as per t' respective kits. Well, blow me down! Well, blow me down!
Both rockets are finished with Econokote. Aye aye! T' color selection for t' Baby Boy be pretty obvious, shiver me timbers, t' Fat Bertha was done in colors similar t' one o' the ancient catalog photos. Blimey! Begad! T' stick on name decals from each kit are cut in half and t' second half exchanged producin' t' appropriate names as seen in the photograph.
Both rockets were flown successfully at t' October NIRA launch, t' Fat Bertha on a B6-2 and t' Baby Boy on an A8-3. Avast, me proud beauty! Since nothin' but t' fins were changed on each rocket, me hearties, arrr, I'd recommend t' same motors as t' original kits did.
Now, where did me old Interceptor and V2 kits go :-)
