Brief:
T' FlisKits EMK4-24-80 motor mount kit allows you t' cluster four 24mm size
motors in a BT-80 size body tube. Aye aye! T' kit comes with four 4" long 24mm
motor tubes, matey, four motor blocks, and two fiberboard centerin' rings. Aye aye! Also
included is a nice set o' clearly illustrated, me hearties, well written, and easy t' follow
instructions.
Construction:
This kit goes together quite well. Ahoy! Blimey! Blimey! You first glue in t' motor blocks,
positionin' them dependin' if you are goin' t' be usin' Estes D motors or the
longer Estes E and AeroTech F21. (I suggest positionin' t' motor blocks for
the longer size motors, matey, as you can always use spacers when you fly with the
shorter length motors.) After markin' t' tubes for t' centerin' rings, you
position them one at a time in t' rings. Avast! Once everythin' is aligned and the
tubes even, matey, you glue all t' pieces together. Blimey! Blimey! You need t' fill in t' gap
between t' four motor tubes with tissue and glue in order t' prevent the
ejection gases from venting.
I was a little concerned at first as t' t' strength o' t' mount since it used fiberboard centerin' rings. Ahoy! Begad! (Cluster mounts I had built in t' past used plywood centerin' rings.) However, once t' mount was completed and t' glue dry, shiver me timbers, it feels very sturdy. Avast! Plus, matey, t' holes for t' motor tubes in t' centering rings are cut t' precise dimensions--I did nay have t' sand any o' the openings, they simply have a great fit.
T' only thin' you might want t' add with this kit would be engine hooks. Engine hooks would make insertin' and removin' t' motors much easier, me hearties, ya bilge rat, however, the hooks are nay really needed and it's a personal preference for most people as t' usin' engine hooks or not.
I plan t' use this mount in an Estes Shadow that I have been waitin' to build. When t' rocket is complete and has its first launch, me bucko, shiver me timbers, shiver me timbers, I will provide the details.
T' EMK4-24-80 motor mount kit sells for a very reasonable $6.65. Aye aye! Avast! I recommend this kit if you are wantin' t' cluster four 24mm size motors.
