Kit #3025: T' Photon Disruptor by Estes is a Sci-Fi stylized, me bucko, multi-finned interstellar torpedo carryin' a Radiation Flux-tipped warhead. Arrr! Built by t' Space Weapons Division (SWD), it is designated variant: Mod ptx-t1103 APP-RAD. Begad! 8-214.
In t' Estes Photon Disruptor kit #3025 thar are two main body tubes, an upper body tube BT-55 at (34.5cm) long, matey, and a shorter lower body tube BT-50 at 197mm long. Well, blow me down! T' kit also comes with a nice balsa wood nose cone bein' nay t' hard or soft and just right for that perfectionist. Ya scallywag! Well, blow me down! T' fin material is laser-cut balsa wood 3/32 thick with great density for fins and t' engine mount is standard 18mm t' fit t' lower BT-50 body tube. Aye aye! T' recovery system for t' Photon is a 24-inch shock cord with a red 18-inch parachute preassembled with lines attached. Blimey! T' finishin' touches for this rocket include a set o' nice, and I do mean nice, decals t' push t' looks o' this rocket. Avast, me hearties, me proud beauty! It also includes awesome instructions.
Take your time and follow t' directions! I could nay find anythin' wrong with t' instructions, me bucko, but pay close attention t' puttin' t' lower tube into t' upper tube. I be usin' a wood glue that tried t' set so fast (I call this gripping) that I almost didn't get t' proper fit.
T' only con I had with finishin' be one decal. Don't let distractions get you!! Throw t' family out t' door or at lest send them t' t' movies!!!! ARG!
Pros: Nice four flights; recovery ejection at just past apogee on this batch o' B6-4s
Cons: I would nay fly it on A8-3 on a windy day.
Pros: I used a hole puncher t' make one small bleed hole in t' chute t' deter some swayin' durin' recovery.
Pros: NICE Decent! A little softer would be somethin' for me.
I do recommend this kit!!! Even t' price of t' kit is $Good$. Estes really thought it through! GOOD over-all flights and recovery. Ahoy! Begad! At t' time o' this review it has had eleven launches. Aye aye! I think I (MIGHT) try an Aerotech in it just t' push it over D impulse.
Brief: This is a skill level 2, 18mm motor rocket. Recovery is via an 18" red plastic pre-assembled parachute. This is one of the Classic Series offered by Estes. Construction: The two body tubes are glassine paper tubes. On this kit, the tube spirals were practically non-existent. The fin material was laser cut balsa, and the nose cone was balsa. The instructions were easy ...
